i just got thist ax10 (pics in another thread) and i put in my associated am radio. (all i had) it has a novak goat system and lipo battery. I'm getting alot of glitches the steering servo was moving back and forth (like a stead pulse instead of crazy glitching) and the motor is glitching as well. it almost did a front flip because the motor glitched while i was driving along at almost wot.

i had no issues with this radio in my tc4

my only thought is that since the antenna is SOOO long on this thing i have to wrap it around the top plate and the antenna tube so its not hanging (its way longer then other AM radios I've had) that maybe all the wraps are causing glitches. and ideas?

also i set up the goat on profile 1 and had to reverse the motor output for the radio. is there anything else i need to adjust?

one last one, is there a way to set the center on the throttle? this radio is like 80/20 instead of 50/50 but i have to turn the throttle trim way over before it will sit still at idle.

thanks in advance!!

if your antenna is touching much of the frame that seems to make them glitch like crazy! I'm not too familiar with the goat but make sure its set to cut off for your lipo when it need too. I'm not possitive what the bec is set factory on those either, so if its like 5.3 or something then theres a real good chance that its causing some glitching too....but get the antenna away from the chassis as well as you possibly can. crawlers for some reason like to glitch with most radio's other than like spektrums, not sure why lol, I've ran so many different radios, am and fm and they all glitched wich i couldnt take so i got a spektrum.

The wraps overlapping itself makes the antenna "look" like it is physically smaller to the receiver than it really is, and that could be causing your glitching. The length of the antenna is directly proportionate to the frequency it is tuned (by the length) to. So, your antenna, being overlapped, is now tuned to a higher frequency than your transmitter is transmitting at. The results are, well, you see the result. Good luck with the endeavor!

if your antenna is touching much of the frame that seems to make them glitch like crazy!

Plus, the condition slow is describing is referred to as a ground loop, and needs to be avoided.

the bes is 6v and the lipo cutoff is 6.25. i will reroute the antenna and see what happens.

ok, yeah its all the antenna prolly, if the bec is a 6 then you should be good unless your running a 400+ oz servo lol, wich i doubt you are.

here is my routing.. any ideas on a better way? it goes from the rx under the plate, over the plate to the tube, then wrapped around the tube.

try getting rid of the plate, you dont need it anyways and it adds weight up top wich you really dont need, even though it will seem light, any little thing makes a difference then maybe use a peice of lexan as a plate, or cut a plate out of a pop bottle and try wrapping the antenna front to back on it...

the rx is mounted to the bottom of it right now. i will take it off when i rig up something on the rods.

i undid it all and used the stupid long tube that came with my baja and ran it strait up. its working alot better but still glitches a little.

it handled everything in my landscaping even though it was wet, so now i gotta find better rocks.. the addiction has begun!!

lol yep, your hooked now! lol...need any help let me know....

ok so i got a new receiver for the axial, i got another nomadio for my sensor. made up a rear upper link plate (out of a maxx skid plate, forgive me RC gods...) i removed the upper plate but left the two loops. i put the rx on the rear plate and screwed the antena holder into the hole in the rear loop. (ill post pics later...)

I'm still getting the steering glitch with a nomadio radio.. (they dont glitch) so i think its the servo. its a tower pro mg one.

either way, its drivable and seems a little less top heavy. i can go almost vertical before it goes over. ill have to get a video of it so you guys can tell me if I'm on the right track.

It sounds like your on the right track, and yeah if your still glitching after all that I would say it is a good possibilty that it is your servo, but it could still be the bec on the esc too because the bec is only rated at 5 amps I believe, and if you are running the tower servo that is a hitec copy rated at 333oz. of torque then that could still be the problem, just another possibility...

yeah the bec could be the problem if its the tower pro 995 then its 208 at 6v though.

so can i get an external bec? or run the bat strait to the servo? its not bad and only does it ever so offten. i may just leave it alone.

yeah you can get a CC BEC for like 20 bucks.

do you think that would fix the issue? or run the bat strait to the servo? i need to get a vid of the glitch, its unlike anything I've seen.

does it do it while turning and giving it throttle at the same time? if so, definatly get a bec...

I've been to comps and almost everyone was using spektrum. They said stuff in the rocks made the cars wig out on the other radio's

That is strange I was using a Futaba FASST with it and I never had glitching. My friend had the exact same set-up on a Normadio....think it is the servo? I have had one of the Tower Pros weird out on me before on my Savage.

it does it at idle like when i first turn it on or if i just stop on the rocks. it sets there and wiggles.

what wiggles, the servo?
