honestlly bud,I've never heard alpine speakers,but I've read that there not as high quality as other brands,infinty make's some kick ass speakers for those prices that are suppose to be better,i would look into those,boston acoustic or mb quart,but i still would not want to go with 6x9's and 6 1/2's that so much high and mid for a small space that it would be overwhelming and tiring,not to menchion the wattage you'll have to drive into a sub to make it sound better.Alpine deck's are nice,i would go with that one for your budget.

I wouldn't buy pre made box's,i would buy a decent sub not a dead bottom of the line sub, and i would make a box,box making really isn't that difficult,requires the right type of matterial,glue,screws and demensions

I can give you somewhat decent instructions and can create a box and send you all the info to put it together,but what kinda of music do you listen to.

define you just don't want all highs? for $70 shipped you can get a Soundstream xs-10 dual voice coil sub,it's cheap and kinda flashy they do pretty good,a 10 with a decent amount of watts would do nice.i dunno how well a 8 would perform at rap I've never seen it done,but 10's and 12's are awesome for nice bass,low-mid to thundering bass that you can feel.good amp and those componets i showed you would do fine for ya.i can show you actually pictures of the xs woofer if you want,they should look better than in the pictures.http://www.soundstream.com/sub/products_subs_xst_d.html

Dont look at getting bass out of 6X9's. Yeah they will put some out, but its VERY hard on them. They were made to be a mid level sound the tweeters do the highs. Also stay away from Boston acoustics. Also stay away from anything they sell in Jc whitney. The only brands I would consider and try to stay in would be pioneer, Alpine, Mb Quart, Rockford fosgate, kicker and infinity. These are going to be your best bet (Unless you want to compete, then theres a whole new level of stuff) but these are going to be your best purchased for the buck. But again, each one makessome good and some bad. Pioneer='s Decks, Alpine=Decks and amps, Mb Quart=highs and mids, Rockford Fosgate= subs and amps, Kicker=Subs, and infinity= Highs and subs. Again dont waste the money on Crutchfields prices. There are ALOT of wholesalers on Ebay that want to push out last years items that are still new in the box, come with facotry warrentys and ya can get them for 1/2 the cost of crutchfield usually.

for your budget it might be worth looking into a powered sub. they sound good for the price and you don't have to worry about building a box or as much wiring. actully i think you can use them with the stock deck.

you still would need an amp, but i dont know how to mount the tweeters or cross over. i thought the tweeter just kind of come with a screw type mount?

componetes are all serperated,instead of being all combined like coaxils,components usually sound better,why that is,I'm not sure,but they give you more chance to change the sound of what your looking for,vs- coax with just come all from one speaker.
