I am getting ready to purchase my first car used from cl. I know nothing about them...yet. So I need to know first if I am getting a good deal and then once I get the car I will need to know alot more. He wants $100 and dosnt know if it will start

He says it is a Traxxas Vtec w/ a 2.5 motor
He hasnt started it in a year and knows nothing about it besides the model and motor. Says it has new body, tires, exaust, and air filter.

Buying a used rig that most likely needs a complete tare down to make run is not the way you want to get into the hobby. There's a pretty steep learning curve when it comes to prepping, maintaining and tuning a nitro engine. I'd save up and buy new if you don't have somebody with experience to help you along. I may reconsider if he is willing to get it running properly for you.

It's like buying a real car that needs a starter. You have no idea if the engine, transmission, rear or anything else mechanical is any good.
Give him $100 if he can make it run, 50 if he can't.
