Hey all, been waiting, and decided for my first nitro it'd be better to buy locally, I'm getting my Buggy on the 9th of December, and i can't wait!!!:first_place: Will get pics when i get it.:hehe:
But for a brand newie, what are the first things i should do to maintain it, first timer tips on starting, breaking in, general running??
Any tricks of the trade i should know, best way of stopping the engine etc
And also correct method of using glow plug warmers, I've heard they can "go" pretty easy??
Sorry but i dont want to screw my first rig so quickly
Any advice at all will help, and btw where exactly do you fit a failsafe??

Thanks in advance :D

Thanks man, its a GV Dominator 4wd buggy, probly not the best but for a first car will do fine :D:D
So anyone,. any advice?

First thing to do is take out the glow plug and locate your piston's top dead-center and bottom dead-center (TDC/BDC) and mark them on your flywheel with a sharpie.

Second, locktite your metal-on metal screws.

Third, buy a temperature gauge! The only sure way to know if you are operating your engine in the ideal range and not burning it out by running too lean.

You'll want to pay particular attention to the engine break-in cycle and tuning. Rolex has a great guide in the sticky at https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60832.

When finished running your buggy, move the flywheel so piston is at BDC. This allows the piston and cylinder head to cool at different rates (which they will) without friction or wear to your combustion chamber, piston, piston ring, etc. After-run oil is also a pretty good idea.

Failsafe's are pretty easy to install. They sit between your throttle servo and receiver. Basically it's just an inline plug-in and there are many to choose from. I use a Dynamite race guard which is double-sided taped to my radio tray.

Anything Rolex says about engine care & maintenance you can take as gospel. Just ignore the bad jokes.

What do i move to make sure its at TDC and BDC??
Where can i buy after run oil?
Where to buy temp guage?
I understand the BDC part but why do i need to know TDC?
So I'm guessing u Take glow plug out. move the flywheel(Dno where that is ill look in manual), observe piston movement, mark top of flywheel when piston at TDC and BDC and yeh.
With the loktite, what if i break something and need to replace a part thats loktited on?
And with the Failsafe, just get it on any old way you can lol?
Thanks for the help greatly appreciated

What do i move to make sure its at TDC and BDC?? - The flywheel

Where can i buy after run oil? - LHS or online www.amainhobbies.com

Where to buy temp guage? - same as above

I understand the BDC part but why do i need to know TDC? - i dont know lol

Yes thats correct. The flywheel is right behind the clutchbell attached to the crankshaft.

Make sure you get blue loctite not red. You will be able to clean it off and replace it.

And with the Failsafe, just get it on any old way you can lol? - I would use servo mounting tape and put it somewhere out of the way.
Thanks for the help greatly appreciated

Thanks, but i forgot to mention I'm in Aus so amainhobbies may not be the best option, but thanks heaps for the replys your all really helpful.
Another noob question, what usually comes in a "starter kit'
Cheers :D:D:D

Your avatar is the logo for Screamer Hardstyle, a hardstyle shuffle group in melb, just wondering if you were part of it, or u just thought it was pretty haha

I think these fellas haver really summed up most of the really important stuff. Remember to keep your air filter clean and make sure it's zip tied down really good. You don't want that thing poppin' off or their goes your engine.
