How do i know what i should change my gear ratio to on my nitro rustler from stock sized tires to trenchers proline. Wheel diameter is still 2.8 but tire diameter is bigger.. Dont want to overheat my car like some people say i will.

Thanks

a larger tire will be the same as what i call a higher gear, ie higher top speed. slower acceleration. my experience is a tire size change is not as much change as a gear change. i found some charts for street truck. my friends here can give you more good info for RC truck.

I'm actually in Wichita right now. I live in Salina lol.. But what I'm asking is do i need to change my gearing for these newer tires and to what.

You may have to drop a tooth or two on the cb, or you could add a tooth or two to the spur. Both will lower the ratio and give a little more torque, easing the strain on the motor. What motor do you have in it? I run the Trenchers on mine with a 3.3, it's geared pretty high and I have no issues. I say run it, if you don't like the performance you can drop a tooth or two on the CB or go up to the 72 tooth spur.

2.5 cc.. Just worried it'll overheat if i run it as is

Well then, drop a couple teeth on your CB. What's your gearing now.

Stock gearing... Will raising the spur gear two teeth be the.exact same thing?

Is there a Way to figure out what exactly I need to add or subtract? Or just guess lol. I wanna know for future reference

You'll just have to guess. If I was you, I'd run it, tune it and see how it does. If it doesn't have the performance you want, adjust the gearing. IMO, nitro engines can handle being over geared better than electrics, the clutch takes the abuse. Unless your tune is way off, you won't kill your engine on your first run.

Do you think the trenchers will be too big for the trx2.5? I think they are a half inch taller then stock tires.

Someone said its not powerful enough for such big tires.. They're 4.8 inches tall.

I ran them when I had a 2.5, I also ran them with a Dynamite .19. If you're too worried about running them, sell them and get some 2.2 Dirt Hawgs.

Someone told Me the Trx 2.5 wouldn't be strong enough to power the trenchers which are 4.8 in outer diameter. Is this true.. I think.the stock tires are either 4.1 or 4.3 in outer od.

Well than I had a magical 2.5 that ran off of leprechaun tears, not nitro. :whhooo:

Haha I'll just run what I got if it will run ok.. Already own them.

So just put a spur gear in that has two more teeth and I'll b ok?

^^ I hear happy leprechaun tears are more combustible than sad leprechaun tears!^^

I guess you spent alot of time at the end of rainbows ?
Or just holding the vertically challenged by their ankles!

Rolex ... All that tells me is ratios... How do I know which ratio to run with certain sized tires.
