Use a piece of notebook paper, put a strip between the clutch bell and the spur gear, slide the motor to the clutch bell crimping the paper between the two, tighten down the motor.

I know I am new to nitro cars/trucks, you said to slide the motor to the clutch bell. Isn't the clutch bell already attached to the motor?

I never had good luck with the paper method. I found that it seems to get the gears too close together, and they would always bind a bit at some point when when giving it a push across the floor. Now, I`m no expert, and I don`t really know if there`s anything wrong with doing this, but I just leave the engine loose while pushing it and find a point where it rolls freely and tighten it down. Never had any problems, but again, I`m not an expert.

Get the mesh as tight as you can without it binding. Most plastic spur gears aren't perfect, so it'll probably have a spot or 2 that's tighter or looser. Find the sweet spot somewhere in between. Take your time and make sure the engine's sitting square on the chassis.

I have a question about my hpi evo+. On mine the motor can only go in one spot, the screws won't allow me to move it from side to side so it's sets the gear mesh right everytime. Is it supposed to do that or are other cars different?
