Are they the same as a GFI breaker like the one thats next to my bathtub to keep me from using the toaster while I'm taking a shower?

I knew you'd be the first smart ass to answer my smart ass post..
I really need to shut this site down when I'm at work....
it's just way too much fun...

I'm interested as well. Anything within reason to help protect my home.
I have a lot of electrical equipment. 3 Home entertainment setups, Hot tub, 3 computers, all my RC chargers, and the list goes on.

I'm actually looking at a full battery backup and surge suppression system for the house.

Yes, they are the same as a GFCI, except these are installed in the breaker box. Some states, or counties now have building codes that require these for any bathroom or kitchen circuit, and a separate one for any type of whirlpool tub or spa.

You can still use your toaster, but not IN the shower.

AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH my pun was ruined by your serious talk.....
I should have picked a GE toaster ad instead........
can't we just get back to fooling around here?

and Tripp-Lite would probably be the best placeto look for massive surge protection and UPS systems for your house........but you could do a lot easier and use smaller backups and have an automated generator that back feeds the house from the main breaker.....you would need to have a massive latching relay to disconnect the feed coming in....oh what am i doing participating in your ruination of my pun...bah humbug......

but I do have a few brandy new CSI programmable controller that can do all of that automation stuff for you if you're interested....

So, we're either a little slow, or a little too informed. I have it figured out now.

A GE thread in the General Electric forum.

Had you made a thread about GE toasters, FastEddy would have warned you not to use them in the shower, then I would have told you that it makes the bread taste a little 'soapy'.

So what if I want to take a milk bath.
I like milk toast.

I'm an APC dealer and can get lease return units. I just need to build a shed on the side of my house to hold it.

And I have the controller to let you see anything you want to bring into an I/Net system and monitor / control your home from anywhere you have a laptop w/ I/net and a phone line from......I'll even program it for whatever you want.....I had one on my Marine aquarium for 4 years and it rocked....I could go away on vacation and not worry about my tank.....I can program these things to do anything that can be controlled via a relay or modulates based on 0-10VDC signals out and 10k thermistors, 0-10V, 0-20mA or contact closure inputs........I install these suckers for the FAA...they upgraded a facility to some other system and I got to keep all their old stock of parts to boot.....now if I can just find people that want them....

You still can't do the toasting in the tub, but you can bring the toast in there with you and dip it while you soak.

If you have a hot tub in your house, you should check your circuit panel just to make ABSOLUTELY sure that there is a GFCI breaker dedicated to it, or to that bathroom.
