After some aggrevation, and not getting a direct response from Futaba, I have found some info. In the July 2004 RC Car Action mag, page 190, is the Tower Hobbies ad in the lower left corner with a Synthesized TX/RX Combo for 75mHz FM. So I go and look up the part number. Poof, can't find it. However!, look here:

Looks like the module we have been waiting for!!!

And for the RX:

Thats all the info I have for now.... Looks like it will be late July before we see it.

Just wanted to share.

Sweet!

Already added to favorites and marked the calender, I getting one.

Will it be HRS?

From what I have been able to dig up (man Futaba is tight lipped!!) it appears there will be both.

The 3PK out of the box is set to do PCM/PPM/HRS all on the 75 or 27 mhz band. 27 or 75 is determined by which version you buy.

So lets say you have the HRS module and the PCM Synth module, you can just press 4 buttons and switch it over. This is what I do now.

I went to towerhobbies.com to check if they had the metal carrying case for the 3pk, it will be late July before they have it in stock. I also noticed that they moved the date for the synth. Tx module from July to late Sep. and I did not even see the synth. Rx.

Here is the RX by Novak (what I run in all my rides and it has never failed me yet)

Ill see if I can find the one Futaba was putting their name on.

As for the metal case, mine should be in Today!!! I orderred it right when it was released, and needless to say, they sold out and are on backorder already. They should have know that anyone who dropped the cash on the 3PK would easily want the case that is hard sided AND made for it! Boneheads! lol

I agree with you on that case thing, they are tight lipped boneheads! My radio is about 2 months old and does not look that new any more, they are hard to keep clean and pretty at the track and in the trunk to and from the track. Did you get your case already, could you post a pic of the radio in the case, cause I have seen some universal aluminum cases that offer some storage for extra radio related items. So just wondering weather to wait or get one with some storage compartments.

Well, it didnt come in as expected. I feel like I was kicked in the &*%^*&%^!

Anyhow, I was at office depot today, and for 30 bucks, I seen a really nice hard metal looking locking case that could fit 2 radios, a charger and who knows what else. But, I'm still waiting on my Futaba case.

Maybe it came in today.... As soon as I get it I will post the pics for you.

I'll be runnin a 3pk with my maxx project truck but I'm pretty new to all this fancy shmancy radio stuff. I just knew I'd need a good one to handle all the power my truck will have. so what exactly is a synth and what's exactly is PCM. I have a 75 FM 3pk

MY CASE CAME IN! I go to pick it up this morning!

As for the 3pk info, the HRS system is the High Response System and is supposedly close to twice as fast as the PCM or PPM systems you predominantly see. PCM, PPM and HRS are all the 'modulation' types. Essentially, how the signal looks when transmitted. Being that you have the 3pk, you will either be running HRS or PCM right out of the box. Depending on what version you bought.

www.futaba-rc.com will have a wealth of information surrounding the different configurations in their current radio systems. If I'm not mistaken, the Synth module is going to require you switch your TX to transmit PCM (I did not see any plans for a Synth HRS system). Cool part is, your 3pk can change to any of these modes through the menu.

In a nutshell, speed, efficiency, accuracy and range are all affected by what type of modulation you run with. Being on FM alone is leaps and bounds better than running on an AM signal. And with the 3pk, you are ahead of the pack!

Ill dig up some good articles for you if you like. Just let me know,

I have the FM version of the 3pk (Hrs). But if the HRS is almost twice as fast as PCM and all the others why is the PCM version more expensive. And... if I can switch my radio from HRS to PCM why do they sell a seperate PCM version anyway? I feel like a dumbass with all these radio questions but I feel like I'm just not gettin it.

Its like comparing AM and FM. Not as EXTREME, but they have their own way of communicating.

As for price, got me man. I just know that Synth and PCM go together, so I think they probably know you will never buy another crystal set, and ding you a little more up front.

The only ride I setup for HRS was my on-road. I didnt really notice much of a difference, but, my eyes arent that fast either. And the HRS will also cost you at the end of the day if you arent used to buying digital servos ;)

That being said, I get confused and lost on this stuff too.

All I know is the 3PK can do BOTH synth PCM and HRS, and I plan on using them both!!

If you have the Futaba 3PK radio, you can purchase this Hitec Spectra module and you can use the Novak Synthesized receivers. You'll be running PCM mode with a synthesized receiver. Futaba doesn't market this but it works and a lot of the guys over at my LHS run this setup. The Hitec synthesized transmitter module will work without any problems.

Or if you want to wait until September or Oct (or who knows how much longer it will be delayed), Futaba will release the same thing but branded with their Futaba name later on. (Screw waiting).

Thats the setup I run now. Problem is, some tracks wont allow it since it is against FCC rules to do. I know, what a coincidence that not only did it fit, but it also works. How ironic?!?!

While HiTec was cool about talking to me about the issue, Futaba NEVER once responded to 4 emails I had sent.

Shortly after, they announced their own module anyhow. Mine has been on order for a month now, and like you said, who knows when it will be out.

When it does get released I will be selling my Lynx 3D setup WITH the HiTec Spectra module. Just so I dont ever have to worry about FCC concerns etc.
