well just like it says above i have a lx comp and i have a sport werks .26 in it and i ust rebiult it a few months agao and today i wanted to run it and break it in and when i started it it ran fine no problems then after about 10 sec it started to make a funny grinding like sound from i think the flywheel and i pulled the motor and checked it and i can't see anything that is grinding so i have no idea what it would be its the same setup i have always used and never had a problem with it and also when you rev it up it make more of a whining sound not grinding so if this helps and you have any idea what it could be let me know so i dont hurt nothing thanx guys:ponder2:

Well it could be an interior problem did you check the piston rod and pin, i had that happen to my buggy and that is wat was wrong.

does the buggy drive correcty? does all 4 wheels pull? could be a bad diff. or ring/pinion. also check brake disks, and make sure the cb isnt rubbing the spur.

well i runs perfect no problems and it drives fine also but it still makes the noise and i can't figure it out tonite i am going to take the clutch off and try shimming it and checking the internals and make sure the bearings arnt bad from sitting for a while i use aro every time i dont use it so i dont think it would be that but i will check it anyways

Either that or you have a fried bearing and don't know it. I had that on my buggy. Running fine... running fine... high pitched squeel, engine stops. Swear at it, kick it (thought engine fried), pull starter, starts up. Runs fine, then did it again. Then I realized it really seemed to be laboring at low RPM's and the RPM's at idle seemed really low. Then finally, the bearing blew apart. It was a CB bearing.

Ya know, I was running my Mayhem the other day and I hit a clown. Now my buggy sounds funny, too.....

well i have some avid bearing orderd and i am waiting for them to come in and when they do i will change them around and see if that helps i know its not gear mesh i checked that right away the only other thing it could be is the bearings on the clutch or something in the motor (hope its not the motor)i will keep you guys posted

Have you taken the engine apart at all?
does the CB spin freely?
does the driveline spin smoothly?
push your buggy on the ground (w/ engine off) and see if it makes the same sounds....they won't be as loud but if they are in the drive line you'll hear something similar.....
when my bearings go I don't get funky sounds just engine cuts off for no reason alot...then within 3 tanks the bearings are shot ad seals blown.....you can repack em if you need a quick fix....the shields are just held on w/ C-clips....
