RC Driving Style
i get home from school and i see this kid i always see when i run my rs4 mt on the block. he come up to me and shows me the new ntc3. I'm like lucky sun of a *****. he says its his dads friend car. he turns it on runs it a bit. oh yeah this kid is like 8 or 9. then he goes full out and looses control and the car gets side ways and hits the drive way where it meets the street and gets air born and breaks the front suspension arms and some other stuff. oh man this kid was scared. i tried to help him all we could do is look for some of the peices and put them in a bag. i felt sorry for the kid. I'm glad i didnt let him drive my mt when he asked a while back. :spit:

That sucks, wich is the main reason i don't drive other people's rigs,I'm too afriad that i will be that 8 year old kid.

when i first got into nitro i went to the lhs and a guy outside tried to sell me his mugen for 350.00 didnt know it was a good deal then. but anyway he let me run it and i came onto the straigh away and wasn't paying attention and at wot i ran it staight into a pvc pipe. going probally 40 mph or more. and i was freaking out. turned out all that broke was the bumper mount. now i wish i would of bought that car.

asmuch as i waned to drive it something told me to say no

Ill usually let people drive my savage if they ask, but people know what my savy means to me so they usually take it easy. I also be sure to tell them if they break something, they better get a head start cuz I'm gonna beat there ass..lol.. But a kid whos 8 or 9?? Nope. Better question is why would a dude let a 8 or 9 year old kid borrow a new Ntc3? Thats asking for a wreck in my book. I have a hard time tuning mills, and I'm 25. When I was 8 or 9 I'm suprised I could wipe my own ass, better yet tune a mill...lol

I don't mind letting someone drive mine. A good friend, anyway. Start em out with something slow, tough and in a wide open space. I even let a buddy's 10yr old drive one. I had to work on it after, but it wasn't one I cared about much. Going to give him the Rustler after we get it going. :hammer:

When I flew kites, I started the same way. Didn't want to let anyone touch them because they were expensive (paid $200-$300 each for them). But then I realized that even though they were expensive to buy, they were cheap to fix. If someone darted the kite and blew a spine or a leading edge, it would cost like $5 for a new carbon rod. That's it. And just a bit of time to get it back in. Most of the pieces on our cars are pretty inexpensive all-in-all. So I'm sure the guy thought it was no big deal. Anyone who lends their car to an 8 year-old has to expect some sort of carnage.

I let my 7 year old cousin drive my hyper on our track, I would richen the HSN so he coudln't get going to fast, the buggy was built like a tank so I knew he wouldn't do any major damage. I also stayed around when he drove it. He actually did quite well considering!

the only question I ask is, "are you able to handle a repair bill for a few hundred if something goes wrong?"....if they can't then I say no.....I got a mini-T for letting people drive an RC but my daughter has taken ownership of the NEMO bug, so I can only let people use it when she's at my Ex's house......but people letr me run their rigs all the time......and the guys that let me use their stuff I definately let use mine......I mean if they have a rig worth 1k + then I think they have a clue what's at stake...

if its a fellow rc guy.. i will cause they understand what it takes to fix it.. if it is a non rc guy and i think they will own up to the bill ill let um as long as they understand that its a 300+ dollar, 20lb 30mph "toy" can be dangerouse and expencive.. if they dont chicken out ill let um. a kid HELL NO. cause id have to go get the cash from there parents, and they prolly dont even know where they kid is atm..

the only time I've ever had to collect was last X-mas eve...some kid got an OFNA road car...nitro 1/8 scale....and I helped him get it started and explained what he had to do to break it in and I started my 9.5 and doing zips up the street he turns and goes WOT into my stuff and then looks at me w/ a look af surprise because he just destroyed 2 really nice RCs.......his mom freaked when I handed her the reapair bill receipt.......it was like 125 bucks in parts....and then she gave me an attitude when I mentioned that doesn't even include any of my labor......lol....yeah I was rubbing it in......F her

LMAO :spit: :hehe: That is funny... Labor is expensive in this hobby...

i probily wouldnt let anyone except someone heavy into rc drive an on road ...my savage on the other hand id let pretty much anyone i thought was "mature" drive it.....basic rules TRY not to hit anything & if the wheels are off the ground NO throttle ....i havent had to use it yet but another advantage of a computer radio is limiting the throttle that can be given

i only let poeple who know what they are doing and are going to pay the bill if any thing breaks. at the moment i am thinking of teaching my 10 yr old cousin how to drive my mt.
