fuel questions

hi guys,
i was wondering if the man i bought my car of was using MODEL TECHNICS fuel do i need to buy the same fuel or can i use any other ones?
eg.hpi-racing.

Any good nitro brand will do!! just dont mix them in the tank!

Just wondering why you say not to mix them? That seems like saying if you put BP gas in your car then dont put in Exxon gas until the tank is empty. Now I will admit I'm not a vet when it comes to RCs so am I missing something here?

My thought on not mixing them would be because of different oil contents. I am no expert by any means so if that is wrong someone please chime in.

I can't see the oil contents being an issue....if one has 8% oil and the other has 18% oil your just going to end up with a % in between 8 and 18% which is still fine.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

9 out of 10 times, when you change fuels, you have to tune. Mixing fuels would only make matters worse. Besides, it doesn't take very long to burn a tank of fuel. Just finish it off before you switch. I've also heard horror stories about bearings going to hell right after a fuel swap. It's really best to pick the quality fuel that is most abundant in your area and stick to it. Byron's has worked great for me.

yes mixing oil content and different grade oils and nitro can mess things up... and most of all to much messing around with tuning.... Always best to find a good brand and stick to it!! but if needs must then run it empty then put in the new stuff!!
