hello, i have a 1 gallon of fuel 10% and 1 gallon of 30%,whath can i use in my rs4 3 hpi, or can i mix the fuel 10% and 30%.
The 30% fuel can damage my rc car hpi rs4 3
Thanks

I would think if you mix 30 and 10 in equal amounts you get 20.Once this fuel is gone though you will need to retune or keep running a 20 percent nitro fuel. The lubricant amounts may be different also, its best to pick a brand and percent nitro content and stick with it but you have $60.00 worth of fuel so I would mix it and use it.

I AM NOT A PRO OR VETRAN R/C GURU.PLEASE WAIT FOR AN EXPERIENCED HOBBIEST TO CHIME IN HERE haahmmm Rolex,Lessen,Bueller? anyone?

um NO, i would not mix the two, if you have to use them i would use the 10%. Not sure why but mixing 10% and 30% does not give you 20%, there was a previous post about this.

Actually, it does give you 20%.
Formula: (fuel % + fuel %)/2 = new fuel %

In this case: (10% + 30%)/2 = 20%.

But when you are mixing fuel, it's easiest to mix the equal amount.

I wont say either way on the mixing, too much of a debate there. But I can say that 10% nitro content wont make the mill happy. I had a .15X that couldn't get out of it's own way because there wasn't enough "octane". 30% will run, but may end up ultimately shortening the life of the mill. I good middle of the road fuel would be 20%. I'd say about 90% of us here run it and have no issues with it at all. Think of it like a high end sports car. 87 octane and the engine can't perform to it's fullest. 100 octane may run like a charm in it, but ultimately because of the extra output, wears the engine down faster resulting in faster breakage.

I've mixed 10 and 30% and it ran in my savvy no problem.
i think it all comes down to luck just mix it well shake that nitro like a cuban booty :D

I think that it would matter a bit if it is the same brand of fuel, since some makers use different amounts of oil and such, different kinds also.

I don't know. I have heard street racers (1:1 cars) talk about mixing 87 octane gas and 93 octane gas and it gives you a higher octane than 93. It all has to do with the chemistry in the gas. Somehow the molecules in the fuel cancel each other out, join togther, whatever they do to make your 1:1 car run faster. As far as the nitro goes, not sure if it works the same way but I would not mix the two.

I've been mixing 20% and 30% byrons for a year or so to get 25% for my LRP28 and it's been fine. My LHS doesn't carry 25% and the manual suggests running that.

Yeah. You can mix it as long as they both have been through the same conditions. If you have a new 30% fuel and you have a 5 month old 10% fuel you're bound that something will happen to your engine.

Thats street racing thing is completely wrong. Alot of street racers might throw some 100-110 into a tank of 93 but thats about it. Thats mainly so they can run a higher timing without fear of pre-detonation.

LOL, no offence but someone was blowing smoke up your @$$. Mixing any kind of fuel will never give you better then the highest percentage you mix with. Using addatives like octane boosters, Alcohol, ect will raise it a little bit, but nothing to extreme. I could be wrong but around here 110 octane is the highest street fuel you can get, next step up is super gas and you need to goto a specialty store to get it along with having a race licence to prove why your getting it.

Alot of the time you can get like 116 but thats also leaded gas and is not for road use, around here you dont need any sort of liscense, but its very expensive. (still not as much as nitro ;) )

A few years back we had a racing car group in town that was running race fuels in thier street cars. Needless to say after a few really nasty accidents involving them on the streets, they made it so you can only get the fuel if your "race approved". They claimed that having access to the race fuels allowed the kids to "overpower" thier vehicles and as a result, it was causing more and more teenage deaths, ect. Street racers will be street racers either way, but in a way I kinda have to agree with it. No offence to any teens on here, but kids really dont need that much power. Most are too inexpereinced to be able to hadle that kind of output. JMO.

Maybe so, but I do have to agree with you on the teens do not need that much power. I was 16 with a Camaro, the car is gone and I have the scars to prove it! I learned to have respect for driving the hard way.

By the way, I have an 78' t-top firebird with a somewhat modified 350 as a toy. I drive a Mazda3 or a Ford Explorer as everyday drivers.
