Has anyone ever been sent a free glow plug from OS?

I went to my mailbox today, and in there is a plain padded envelope with no return address and a post office stamp from Champaign IL. I was like what the hell? It has a little something in it - so curiosity get's the best of me and I open the envelope.

Inside is am A3 glow plug in the wrapper with a letter from OS engines, and a coupon for .50 off my next glow plug.

WHAT GIVES?

I appreciate free stuff, but it's kinds of freaky..



By the way, will the A3 be ok for my Picco .21 with 20% Top Fuel?
 
cool .. wish i could get free stuff.. i woulda been more carefull opening it though..

Seriously, one of the GP makers has a promotion going on right now; something like buy 5 and get one free. Did you buy 5?

No, not recently, I've bought some from Tower in the past, but that's it.

Great Planes is in Champaign though.
 
did you recently buy a os motor or send 1 in for service by chance??
i got the same package yesterday in the mail and i had recently sent my .18 cvrx in for repair work and got it back ,
so just curious ,and mine was the same a A-3
 
Hmmm, I bought a V-Spec a few months back...

I found the ad in the mag. Buy 5 OS Glow Plugs and get one free. Requires receipts and all that, so I doubt this is the deal that triggered your receipt of a new one.
 
mine just said is a complimentary plug and a .50 cent off the purchase of my next os plug ,just like smiley said ,odd but cool

I've never bought an OS motor or had them service one. I had contacted them a while back about purchasing one for an old ST I had.
 
did you by any chance send in a product registration card when you bought your os .18? one of the local guys at the track told me recently that they are prone to go through plugs, i dont run an .18 but I've noticed that he goes through them faster in his .18 powered revo, than i do in my .21 powered buggy. perhaps OS is just comping everyone that bought an .18 a free plug in light of the problem. i know they are pretty good about repairing thier v-specs if they have bearing problems even though its a motor that carries no warrenty. its a known problem and they handle it professionally.
 
Racin 38, I'm just wondering how the promo works. The turbo plugs for the V-Spec can get pricey.
 
Perhaps you signed up for updates on new OS products or your name got on some list/some how. It usually doesn't cost the companies much to run promos, But I would imagine they would drop some kind of advertising in there. (I.E: You Have A Brand New GlowPlug, So Try it on Your Brand New OS 4355563!!!, only 500 bucks at a LHS near You!)
 
A couple guys at the track Sunday were saying they recieved the free plug also. Went home at lunch today and I had one in the mailbox....Pretty cool!
