FR 18 in Rustler ?

I want to put a Fantom 18 in my Rustler I wanted to know what pipe would work best and is there anything special I would have to do to my truck to prepare it for the new engine.

You would need a new manifold, and I would reccomed one of the Fantom pipes, they are both very good.

Dude i am gettin that motor for mine it should be here any day now. But from what i herd you will need the mugen header #T0901. As far as i know thats all you need but an aftermarket pipe would probly help. I can't wait to get mine, should be here within a week!

I have heard that I would have to do some dremel work to get the header to fit, if I got the mugen header would that work without any dremeling? Also cvec7 what fantom pipe are you talking about because I am ordering through my LHS and would like to get the pipe and engine together. I would also like to keep the ez-start on the truck so would the 18 fit and connect with it on there, I know it says it is ez-start compatable but is that on the Rustler as well? Thanks.

I am reffering to the .12-.15 pipes, they make a "torque" and a "rpm" version. I'd prob reccomend the rpm one sice you're puttin a .18 in a ST. www.fanotmracing.com for more info.

Thanks, does anyone know where I can find the Mugen header #T0901 or can I just dremel another header to get it to work?

Dude i got the FANTOM .18 in today and had to put the pipe on like this untill the mugen header gets in, and yes the ez start bolts up to it in the rustler. heres the pics i hope they work

This thing flys now way more power and speed!

Looks good, where are you getting the Mugen header from? I have been trying to find one but have not been able to.

I ordered it (Header and motor) through My local hobby shop, and they got it from "great planes". The only problem i have had so far scence having the new motor is a striped idler gear in the transmission. But its back up and running now and it really goes! Later

Yeah it is broken in now, it is very impressive! Yeah thats is why i rigged up the pipe how it is now so i could break it in a run it untill the header gets in. It would be to hard for me to let this thing set around without running it.

also, i heard that you have to rotate the carb to install the engine... is this true?

Well as you probly know the rustler is awsome stock as far as power and speed, and many people wonder why anyone would put a bigger motor in one. With the .18 once you get up to full throtle it is insane. It has great low end, this thing wheelies like crazy now, might need to find out some kind of wheelie bar. There was also a suprising top end speed increase. Has awsome power all the way from take off to top speed. If you go 3/4 throtle and punch it it will go over backwards!

My reason for wanting the Fantom 18 is I plan on turning my Rustler in to a Drag truck. I am ordering some RD Racing carbon fiber, and have already ordered some Panther Burner slicks, and I plan on making a wheelie bar.The 2.5 I have now will be going in an engineless Rustler that I just bought, I will use it as a basher.

Well I got the second Rustler today, so now I just wait for my parts to arrive, my LHS does not carry Mugen and I dont know if they special order from companys they dont carry, If anyone knows where I can get the Mugen header from online please let me know thanks.

Thanks money I just ordered the header. I dont have the final total on the engine yet I just had to put $50 up front for it to be special order.

my pleasure. i am getting the exact same kit for my rustler. engine is like 148$ header like 20$ and suggested tuned pipe is like 70$ also i wanna run a pull start so thats another 15$ comes out to about 255 $ these prices i got off stormer. does anybody know where to get them cheaper?
