Have bought a Force .46 motor for a Savage X - but - it doesn't fit the engine mount. Any ideas what mount to use ?
Suggestions please.

Got pics. Of the engine and mount? Sure we can figure something out for ya...

Ok, here's some pics of mount and motor. I really don't think it will fit my Savage X, the gearbox pulley will hit the carb. It'd a Force .46 motor with a standard HPI savage mount. I think I may end up having to make something and perhaps fit into another buggy !

Do you have a second mount. To cut it down. To the way you need. Or even try a different mount. I always use different company's parts. To work with what I need. Could always get some aluminum plates to make that one mount tabs wider

Yea ,I cut one in half befor to fit a 8.0 engine in a 4.6 ,but it changed hole position on the chassy ,
new holes is required to be drilled on the chassy!..:thumbs-up:

I will probably take another look in the autumn/winter and see what I can do. I have spare mounts and fortunately work at an engineering company, I'm sure something can be manufactured. I don't think it will fit the Savage due to the gearbox pulley placement, but have some others that may well be re-drilled etc !
Thanks for the reply though.

Sometimes got to think out side the box. Especially with one off build

I put my 3.3 in quite a few cars. One thing I had to do was change the angle of the carb. The nut under the aluminum cover under the brass jet(?), unscrew that and adjust it if needed.

It may not help you as this is HPI, but figured it was worth a shot.

Hi guys, thanks for all advice. Have been a bit quiet with nitro lately, just can't get them running right, maybe the warm summer air will work better ?!
Will take a look and see if an hpi mount is out there !
Yes, Stoner, I have a few mounts I can cut. Don't you just love 'kitchen engineering ' ???

Aahhh, Kitchen Engineering, there is nothing like it to waste away the time. I just love it.😜.
Just spent the last 7 hours modding a backplate from an HPI K5.9 to fit a Thunder Tiger 28 pro. Oh what joy this hobby is.

Hi buddy, how's things ? Have also got into 1/5 buggy lately ! Heavy but oh so fast !

Used to be into 1/5 before I got back into 1/8. All I have now are Savages, have 13 at last count, just love the build of these models. Gave up 5th scale as found they were breaking the bank so to speak. WAs ok till I got into track racing then just became silly costs. All my 1/5 models were FG brand. Here's some photo of some I had.

Nice lot of kit. I only have two, just BAJA buggies. Still have all the nitro. Just finding the nitro hard to work at moment! Maybe as the weather gets better they should run better. I struggle a bit with the cold and 28 stairs where I live, shame we have so many extras to carry, just be good to have a shed !!!
Was actually messing with the SavageX on last Sunday and this one ! It tried to do a runaway! The previous owner didn't set the fail safe and this Sunday just wouldn't run right. Guess it's what makes us do this stuff?!
Have got most of the others running well. Soon be sunny again ! Laterz.

Yer must agree starting a 1/5 scale is like starting a chainsaw, nice and easy. Would love to get another FG monster truck, didn't like the Baja that much. But now I have 13 Savages to keep me broke, LOL. I never seem to learn. But the thing I love about Nitro is the love/hate relationship. I friggin hate them most of the time but love them when they work right which ain't that often. Think it's abit like being married. And before you ask, no I ain't, got rid of that expense 24 years ago, couldn't keep her and my toys, well the toys won thank Christ.😉😁😉
@Gouldie62, well here's my collection of Savages

Look good, nice selection. I only have 3 savages but 17 models in total, plus all the spares and rubbish all self contained in my 2 bed flat !
Yeah, got rid of my wife 10 years ago, good days work !!!
I think I have sufficient parts to keep them all going so have cut back a bit on spending lately. Nitro fuel doesn't go down in price like fuel at the pumps, but we don't complain about it - funny !
Enjoy the stuff, catch up with you soon. Gouldie.

I know the space issue all to well Gouldie62, I live in a 1st floor studio flat. Can't move for nitro trucks. Have 2 permanently on the kitchen worktop as got no where else to put them. Only the lack of space that stops me getting anymore I think.

Nice lineup bud. Love the smell of nitro in the morning. Nitros definitely don't like the temps under 60°. And what fuel you run helps with the tunning and running of your nitro

@STONE RC, thanks bro, I do seem to have a liking for the Savage, Had 3 back in the hay day when they 1st came out. Those days were good, so many aftermarket parts available back then. Did what everyone did and blinged my 1st one right up to the point it was heavier than a sack of spuds and totally unusable but did look good. So bought another to use but hey the same thing happened, bought a Truckzilla kit for it, which was total crap. Was nice to have the extended TVPs, this was the days before the XL existed, but the wheels buckled just by looking at them to hard and that .46 hotbodies mill was the most woeful engine I have ever owned. So went out and bought a 3rd, that one I left stock and Had more fun with it than the other 2.
Gave it all up & went into 1/5 petrol as got fed up with them not wanting to start. Gave them up after about 5 years as my mates gradually left the seen. Has a break for about 10 year with just a few 1/10th scale electric models then got the bug back January last year. And I got it bad.😉😉😎👌

Didn't realise the 60 degrees + was optimum temp. Living close to the sea also plays a part I notice. I have a couple of "chainsaws!!", 3 Savages, 3 Hobao's, 1 Losi, 1 HPI and some crappy HSP's. Petrol and nitro everywhere - its great !
Don't know how much longer it will last, but I have started coming to the end of my Byron race fluid. I run it in a Hobao ST pro with a 3.0 O.S. motor, runs out of this world. Unfortunately Byron don't exist anymore - they blew up !
