Hi people, i have tried everything i know to get my R/C car to start, i have had it start a couple of times but VERY VERY hard!, basically i have the Rex-x G.V. Model 1/8th scale car. I have tried altering all the settings on the engine but with no success. I am running out of ideas, i believe the compression isnt as good now as i can turn the flywheels with my fingers, how can i improve this?, if i push a lot of fuel into the engine and pull the pull start its squirts fuel out through the heat-sink somewhere. I know the glow start and glow plug works ok but when screwed back into the car it doesn't seem to want to start at all, if i blow a little fuel into the engine it sounds like its about to start for a second or so but then.... nothing.

Any ideas people?

Fuel squirting out the heatsink?
Have you checked to see if the head is tight?

Check for airleaks. Sounds as if you need to re-seal the backplate and carb. The cooling head, make sure you tighten it down in a star pattern. The pullstart will get gummed up with time just clean it out with Denatured alcohol.

thanks for the reply people, i have now sorted it, i think there was one loose screw in the heatsink causing a slight air leak.
The problem i have now is that the car sounds quite rough when it runs, and is running pretty slow. I have had this model before and i know it can be very fast, are there some settings i should try?

you did do a break-in on the engine..correct?

if not you need to do one, use the search on this site for break in and you will find a lot of info ...good luck

if you changed all the settings on the motor trying to get it to start.. then it will not be tuned right any more.. you need to set it back to factory defaults and start over.. that is if you have dont the break in

As yet the model has been used very rarely and has not yet been broken in, can anyone tell me what settings i need ideally?, i am afraid i'm not too knowledgable on the subject.
Many thanks guys.

Will give it a look, many thanks. I joined this forum today and am very impressed with it, very quick response times from you all. I own www.TDISport.com and am hoping that my forum will get this busy before long.
