Personally i prefer a big V8 from a turbo nutter import heap BUT, American cars just don't have the quality, finish or ability to go round corners like Jap/European motors...

I grew up with a 4.2ltr (a Straight 6) Series 1 Fixed Head E-type Jag (in red), the head had been gas flowed, the crank had been lightened and balanced, it had the Cam, clutch (thats the pedal the you americans can't se anymore!!) and brakes from the a D-type (the earlier racing version of the "E") and a straight through exhaust. It when like a rocket even by todays standards AND is arguably the best looking car EVER made. No car made since has ever done it for me like this one!!

i laughed when i read it without scrolling down. thats a heck of a car to grow up with, somebody had some GOOD taste.

Damn man, my first car was a murcury topaz, big POS, but it was great in the snow and I got it for free so I had no complaints.

My very first car was an automatic... I have now had 5 others and all have been manual. I WILL NOT ever own an automatic. With my last purchase I was severly dissapointed that many many american manufacturers do not offer standard transmissions regardless of engine size. It FORCED me to go to a foreign brand vehicle that I DIDNT want to do. It is very sad that the majority of Americans are just too damn lazy to learn/want to drive a manual transmission vehicle. Not all... but most.

FYI. In many countries still you are not allowed to take your drivers exam to get your license with an automatic car. Up until 4-5 years ago I know England still had this rule, I dont know if they still do.

Yeah, Robriguez is totally right. Freakin american manufacturers don't wanna offer standards anymore unless it's a sports car or "sporty" at least. I'm not really sure but I don't even think you can get a stick in the new 300. I could be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me.

It was a joke!! Chill.
sorry bro. It's quite common for Americans to be criticized for our inability [as a whole] to drive sticks. Just happens to be a stereotype that really irks me. Sorry to jump the gun.

for a pleasure car a standard is fun,but for my work vans i prefer auto because i sit in traffic for some 3 hours a day sometimes and i had a chevy truck with a stick and let me tell you by the time i got the where i had to work i would have freaking craps from the heavy ass clutch

Question for automatic people, do you push the brake with the right or left foot? last time I'd rent a car in USA I found it difficult to push the brake pedal with the left foot as in my car, I ended using my right foot only for both gas and brake. My left leg was just sleeping the full day.

same here right for both...fells odd when using both, only for race mode i use both when i wanna hole shot grandma off the line i know you all know what I'm talking about...lmao

Lets see...
GM---- Chevy Aveo, Cobalt, Cavaleir....Pontiac Sunfire, VibeGT.
Chrysler----Dodge Neon, SRT-4, Stratus Coupe.
Ford----Ford Focus.

Note: these are all the BASE version of these models. You cannot get the premium packages with a manual. I think the SRT4 and the VibeGT are the only exceptions.

Trucks and Sports cars dont count....

These are the ONLY cars I can find that are offered with a manual transmission offerred by US manufacturers.

It was my dad with the taste but sometimes it let him down (he came back from Holiday in Florida once) and brought home with him a '76 Stingray...the panel fit was so bad you could fit your hand between the bonnet (hood) and front wing...

MY 1st car was a Fiat 127 in orange bought for £400...look one up...
