Hey, can anyone tell me how to tighten my flywheel? I have the HPI Savage flywheel, HPI Pilot Nut and Axial 28 engine. My problem is, i can not tighten the pilot nut without the the flywheel turning. i know its turning because my pull start is contracting. can anyone shoot me an answer>? thanks ia.

you ned a piston stopper.. OR you can try the UNRECOMENDED method. just by taking a peice of solder and bending it over. CAREFULLY stick it thru the plug port so that when the piston comes up, it squishes it on top of the piston and head.. it will stop the head from rotating and youll be able to tighten it.. just dont lose a peice of solder in the cylinder..

I'd say you should eliminate that stress on the conrod and stick an old toothbrush down the carb hole so that it jams in the crank. That'll hold it fast and you won't have to worry about bending any thing :)

Hold the flywheel with channel locks... it marrs it up a bit, but who cares? Unless you have a bump box starter.

Then your not stressing anything inside the engine.

Or, take out the glow plug, bring the piston half way up, fill the cylinder to the top with oil, put in a burnt out glow plug.
The oil can't compress, it creates an even load, and it can't scratch anything.
Reverse the process when your done.

yeh it probably would with the small teeth on the flywheel. But I didn't think that the screw was that tight

well tokk my truck to the lhs today. they said to sand the collet nut. i did that and it seems to work great! just going to check my gear mesh now thanks for everyones help anyways!
