I bought it second hand 5+ years ago, but damn it was an awesome car!! RB S7 powered. It took a beating like no other rig, ran circles around everything, jumped the furthest and highest, and was just awesome! Wait, did I say that already? Anyways, I tore it down for a through inspection to get it fixed up, made me a list, and all I can say is WOW!(again) It needs a half dozen things (typical wear items) but the pricing is astronomical to say the least. I stopped counting at $200. That included checking ebay, and googling for the best deals... So, am I better off just selling this one off for a couple hundred and investing in something else, or just suck it up and fix this one?

How good is/was this buggy in relation to other offerings of yesteryear, and what is currently available? This thing has taken a horrendous beating, the only thing I have broken on it is nothing, just ruined a clutch bell when the motor shifted from a 20' high seemingly never ending cartwheel, and the suspension has alot of play (in the wrong ways) so it wanders alot. I like this thing, but is it worth it to fix, when something new will only be a couple hundred more new.

What I know is worn.

All axle shafts, CVs, cup joints, shock cap ends are elongated, front shocks need shafts, upper arm links, F+R tension arm ends, steering servo arms and a few other minor odds and ends.

To get by with a straighter driving rig, I could just do the front suspension/steering so it will drive straighter, but will still have worn parts that will eventually fail....

Well, I can tell you that you WONT get a couple hundred for the buggy, even if it was in tip top shape. 1/8 buggy prices have come way down on the used market, with the introduction of lot of new offerings in the last 5+ years. And as you can tell, parts are harder to come by, so fewer people are looking to buy these.

I would say if it has served you for 5 years, you have gotten your money's worth. Save up and get something new. I hear the 8ight 2.0 is a bad sonuvagun

I have seen brand new in the box Mugen MBX5 Prospecs go for under 400 on the bay.
You'll have to give that buggy away for a 100 bucks or so, if you are lucky.
The used market is at an all time low.
I sold a fully race prepped Revo 3.3 with a O.S. 21 TM and all the goodies for 205 on the bay...I was disgusted. It was better than a Platinum Revo, RPM arms, al. skids, Proline goodies......Well over a grand in it.
All the loyal mugen fans will be after the newer model, selling their older rigs just like you.
If you enjoy the buggy so much, repair it and keep it. ALL r/c's cost 100s to maintain, new or old.

For $200 you are not going to get into anything new that will compare. Unless you want to spend three times as much for a new one I would fix your pride and joy up and run the crap outta 'er all over again!

I'm with RCaddict... "We have the techonology to rebuilt it...." Fix 'er up and beat it again.. Buggy's are by far the most fun out of all of them! Especially if its something you've owned and know inside and out. I just got my first buggy (and broke it) not too long ago.. and thinking of buying another!
