I just noticed my card on my S-25 is loose as a goose. The screw that holds the carb is tight as all get out. I can twist it rather easily. What should i do? Supposed to have a bashin tomorrow if the weather holds. I need a quick fix..i could use ATV but does that take 24 hours to cure? I dont have that much time. Why would it be loose?....how can i get it tight?

Is your pinch bolt in properly? Is your carb neck damaged?

it looks fine....the gab inbetween the carb is consistant all the way down

Great to hear your "gab" is cool LOL. What about your pinch bolt? IS it damaged? anydamage to your crank case?

I'm trying to pop the pinch bolt out but believe its stuck

hmm, can you look down the opening and see if there is any visible damage anywhere? If your carb is loose I suspect only three things: the carb, the pinch bolt or the crank case.I think I would look to the bolt first and see if it is warped.

can you snap a pic?

BTW, RTV should be dry in a matter of an hour tops granted the temp is warm. I like to make sure by letting it dry for 24 hours.

Ok..i will look that over...i can snap a pic if i can get to the camera...lemme see what i can do.

whoa its late! if you can't I am sure I will be on by 9 PST tomorrow!

ok sounds cool....I'm gonna go mess with it..thanks for the RTV hint..maybe i will just apply that and worry about it later...nah..its buggin me..I gotta investigate.. lol

lol. what about the heat dissapation? I really am leaning to the pinch bolt. Sounds like a bad one.

I can't get to the cam right now so after i got it all out i cleaned everything..the neck is tighter now..but i can still twist it. The bolt may be the problem but it looks fine. strange!!!

I wonder if I can buy just a hinge bolt without having to buy a bunch of other parts

I'm thinking the bolt may be to long. It lines up flush with the crank case.. but should it be just a hair shorter so when the screw is tightened the bolt will pull against the carb causing it to squeeze tight? ..just pondering here

fixed!!!!

thats what it was.....i stuck a longer screw in there and grabbed the head with pliers to add some pressure..it sucked it up. Jon you were right...it was the bolt the whole time....Guess i will grind it down a hair so it can pull up to the screw till i can get a new one...phewwww glad thats over with.

I still think duct tape would've worked as well. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

LOL..well i will know for sure use i pull the grinder out and get after it. I reckond i will shave about 1/16" off.

Glad to hear you are up and running! Now go beat the snot out of that baby!!
