After all this money and time spent at the track I’ve decided I’m going to try an actual drift competition. Wish I could’ve had some more time to practice and prep but life is busy and I’m thankful enough to be able to have the time to do this comp. Can’t wait to see how I do against some of the best in my “local” community.

I’ve decided to run my SD 3.0 with the full shark front end, Nissan 180SX body.

All in all the comp went really well and was super fun. There was 16 drivers so everyone qualified. Although we did do 2 “qualifying” laps to see where everyone got seeded. My qualifying laps went well, missed some boxes but overall was decent. Had my battle and I started off in the chase position. I actually did pretty solid! It was my turn to be the lead car and it started off super good, very close proximity drifting and I spun out. Ended up getting a DQ and got eliminated. Was super cool to watch the rest of the people go at it and especially the top drifters in the area. I unfortunately didn’t realize how much tuning my car actually needed along with swapping my body and having zero practice time before the comp. Overall it was a GREAT learning experience and I’m grateful to have something like that local. One of the best guys at the comp helped me tune my car after and it feels like a weapon… I’m excited for the next one!

Heck yeah, dude! Isn’t it wild to go compete and see, first hand, what you need to change about your vehicle to make it competitive, even though you maybe thought it was perfect beforehand? I had the same exact experience with a crawling comp this past summer. Except that resulted in a whole different vehicle being built for the next comp 🤣
