Traxxas fuel is decent fuel but it's very oily which turns a lot of people off becaue the extra oil gets all over your starter bearing(one way bearing) and will make it slip and not start. Also the extra oil comes out of your exhaust and then attracts mud and dirt making more of a mess. I run Byrons 20% with 12% oil content and it works very well in all of my nitro rigs. If you buy fuel online then they'll charge you a hazmat fee and adds about 5 to 8 bucks a gallon in costs. Before you purchase any rc you should go to your local hobby shop and see what they carry. If you need parts and you will, you can buy them and be up and running in no time. Also if you have any problems they'll be more than happy to help you. If you buy online and then have a problem and you bring it to them to fix, then it's like bringing your own steak to a restaurant and asking them to cook it for you for free. After you get your feet wet with a nitro and you're ready for another one(like we all are) then you can buy online and go from there.

IMO the above statements are false, I've never heard of Traxxas fuel causing a OWB to slip and not allow the engine to start. I've been using it for a few years now and have no issues with my nitro engine starting. Using nitro fuel in general makes a bit of a mess and attracts dirt , at the end of the day you'll be cleaning your rig anyway.

IMO the above statements are false,

I agree totally with the statement.
Traxxas does not even publish the oil content of top fuel, having used it and many, many other brands (literally 100+ gallons over the years) that I know the advertised oil content: my guess is its approx 15/16 percent oil. That’s about a 6/7 percent too much oil IMO whereas they are reducing the amount of the available methanol with the higher oil content.
Excess oil content will often cause premature OWB slippage without a doubt.

It's also adding a lot of extra oil to attract grime that makes it messier and take longer to clean.

$106 for 4 gallons of sidewinder basher fuel.

Pretty good price. 20% fuel runs about $30/gallon in my local shops.

Do remember, though, that nitro doesn't last forever, so don't order too much. Once opened, expect no more than 7 or 8 months before the fuel starts to go bad, even if tightly capped. Nitro is hygroscopic (moisture absorbing).

The only engine to give me problems starting when I used Traxxas fuel was the 5.9 in my xl. I switched to Bryons and the problem went away. I also had starting issues with the stock roto start and having it switched over to pull start.

hope your first nitro rc goes good. just dont buy that exceed rc its junk... you get what you pay for just like anything in life. i run vp fuel in my cars and it works very good. also the good thing about nitro is you can run all day long without always stopping every 15 mins to change a battery. but as most beginners into nitro forget even though its nitro it still has battery for the radio system and they do die. so always install a return spring onto the throttle servo in case of a radio drop out your buggy wont shoot off into the woods etc. the ofna ultra lx2 is a good buggy for starters. it can be had for 300 plus shipping and i think they come with a fuel bottle and d cell glow igniter. there are also a few kyosho buggy's can be had for about 350. and honestly i own a redcat hurricane xtr pro i paid 315 for and its a really good buggy for the price and the sh .28 engine has good acceleration. i have owned about 20 1/8 nitro buggy's and people knock redcat but i honestly say for a beginner its a decent choice and parts are everywhere most hobby shops are carrying them now. the steering servos are kinda slow out of the box. good luck oh and buy a few spare glow plugs to nothing like a bad glow plug with no spares to ruin a day of running

Thank you guys for your help. Ill take all of this into concideration.

What do you think your Redcat is?

HSP makes Exceed, Redcat and a number of other brands. Different labels and cosmetics, same kits.

We had an exceed vehicle and it would break if we ran it off the curb--no joke.

If you spend anything in 300 range and you want a buggy...as noted take a good look at the Hyper 7. At least research it and see what people say.

I know people that got an Ultra LX over the Hyper 7 because they thought "the body looked cooler" or it was $30 cheaper. No kidding.

Not dismissing the Ultra LX (I've driven one before) but would highly recommend the Hyper 7. I'm thankful to this day to the people that recommended it to me. They assured me I would not be sorry and years later I still love it!

I will most definetly look into the ones everyone suggested. if i do buy one it will be probably in about 8 months. Because right now i am fixing my Electric Traxxas Rustler. Then after that I'm planning on getting into rc crawling. then ill get the nitro buggy. And is there a way to make a nitro motor give out more torque than speed?

Big Block and gearing and you would be done!
