I bought a 2wd Slash roller and would like to get some ideas on brushless set ups. I would like it to be fast but controllable.

I dont understand the KV rating yet but I can look that up later. I just need some quick pointers.

Also what are good and bad brands?

One last thing, this rig is much lighter than nitros but should I still upgrade the steering servo?

Thanks for any and all help.

Id go either Mamba max with a 4600 or lower kv castle motor or just get a VXL combo and run either of them on 3s and you will be perfectly happy. I've had alotta luck with the stock slash servo's too.

Oh, and welcome to the real fun!!!!

I really appreciate the help. I have it saved and will bid if I can.

slash roller on rctech for $80 shipped right now. looks pretty good too

mamba max with a velineon motor on 3S has gotten positive reviews

Thats what I was running last on my last 2wd also, works great and runs cool.

I'm liking the sound of the mamba-vxl combo.Just a couple more questions. Are all mamba pros the same or do I need a certain KV rating?I looked a bit on Ebay and they seem to be about the same with the motor so should I buy one with a motor and re sekk it?Thanks again for all the help.

in your mamba max packages, the speed control is all the same but comes with different motors. Its the same with the mamba pro. The esc is all the same between the packages, they just bundle it with different motors

I decided to go with the mm for possible future applications. I bought the mamba from RPP and this motor.

Thanks again for all the help.

Now all I need is some Lipos and a good radio.

Good call on the combo. You wont be dissapointed. Just make sure you download the castle software to tune that bad boy out.

I know you guys are getting tired of me but can the C rating be to high or is it like the Mah (the higher the better). What should my lowest C rating be?

Also, do I need a fail-safe with elec.

I think I will try the venom 2.4 Ghz radio.

Almost forgot, do I need a Low voltage cutoff?

C rating is the discharge rate. Take the C rating, multiply it by the capacity (mah) and you get the amperage that your battery can safely discharge at.

25C 5000mah lipo

25x5000=125A

you do not need a failsafe and the mamba max has a built in lipo cutoff that can be customized or set to auto.

Thanks for all the info guys. I got my mmp out of the mail box last night. I'm still waiting on the motor. I have yet to order the batteries, but I think I will get two of these. Then I will order a Radio, either the venom or this one. I will also order some Deans connectors.

The only thing I can think of That I will need is a pinion and spur set. What would be a good bashing combo? Do you know of any thing I need to keep in stock for this truck or upgrade?

EDIT: Before I buy the batteries: To change from 3s to 2s will I have to change settings on the ESC, or just swap batteries? The reason I ask is because my nephew will want to play with it I'm sure.

On the Castle Creations ESCs, if the auto LiPo cutoff function is enabled, it is as easy plugging in a new pack.

Well, I've had a bit of a change in plans. I did order my batteries 2x 3s 3000mah 40c and 2x 2s 1300mah 20c. But instead of buying a radio and solder station I bought another Slash. It is the brushed version rtr, or at least it's suposed to be.

My nephew will be 10 next month and he loves my RC's. So I think I will give him the brushed one for his B-day. Should I get him a Lipo charger and give him the 1300 mah's or should I get him some Nimhs and a charger? Will it even handle Lipo? Or is it a bad idea all together?

I also think an AM 27mhz should be fine for him until he has driven a bit.
