First Club Race....now I am REALLY hooked!!

Well my boys and I attended our first club race here in Oregon. Man oh man it really brings a whole new dimension to the hobby. I was having trouble getting my video game headed kids involved......but they are now as we speak building up rigs I have had laying around. My 12 year old will race my old electric Rustler and my other two boys 14 and 16 will race REVOS of course..

The group of folks that races at our track is two sets really......the electric guys and the Nitro Truggy crowd...all Losi 8Ts....the MT class has all but been abandoned and last night we raced with the Truggies.....I really don't care at this point point but I see the Truggy in my future getting closer.

I am not much of a wheel but I had a great time and broke down before the main....not that th3 gents there had anything to worry about..;)

Let me say this to those of on the fence about racing....try it... the folks re great and the roar of ten or twelve nitro rigs flying around the track is awesome.

:buggy1:

Just had to share. BTW my bank account will NEVER be the same...:ahh:

Welcome to the next level of fun. Its like finally making it past the las part of a video gam and entering a new space.

Its all about fun first. Never forget that.

For me, I thought everyone at the track were pros or something. Not true. They are just regular guy like you having fun. Some are better then others and some arent. Its a great family outing.

I get the biggest thrill out of watching RobMobs 8 yo son Elliot up on the drivers stand perched on his milk crate so he can see over the rail. Even better yet is to see him competing with 50 yo men and holding his own. Last race he competed against his dad.

Racing gives you a chance to drive on a controlled surface within boundaries and to do it with others. The community feel is great and so is the friendly competition. Man and machine against others. It gives some meaning to all the hard work we all do on out rigs. If you dont do so good you get to try again next race. If you do good you need to try to stay that way.

I'm tickled that you have a liking for it and hope to see some photos and hear about the boys.

That's great Talon! I'm glad you've entered the addiction as well! Trust me, it only gets worse (but in a good way!) My 8 year old told me he wants to start racing, too, so I've been trying to get an old Maxx I've had built up for him. The local track does a great job and has a special novice class for anyone just getting into it. Doesn't matter what you have; nitro, electric, buggy, truggy, ST or what. So long as it runs and can get around the track, you're in.

First time I raced I was as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, but Jetmech helped a bunch (in fact, I blame him for getting me hooked) but what impressed me the most was when I broke something and didn't have the part. Couple guys saw me, asked what was wrong and when I explained the situation, suddenly parts are coming at me! I asked to pay and they simply asked that I help the next guy out. Rocked my world!

I'm hooked! Hopefully I can get out Sunday, but it's not looking good right now.

Photos to come soon men.....you are right it really is the next level. I have already rebuilt my truck and the boys are going crazy witth my parts inventory.....sooo cool.

More tomorrow when I get the pics uploaded....we have been out on the test track on our property this evening getting things dialed in.......the guys are cute tuning thier engines.....;)

Anmd thye now are motivated to help me set up a REAL test track here to practice on.

It all started with a Rustler.....

You are so right it was amazing the commraderie of the group there....they all offered parts and help and advice...........what a great sport and it warmsd my heart to see the boys getting interested....ANYTHING but the darn vid machines.....except the Wii..;)

I do see my friend....now I understand the need for the trailer....:)

Here are some pics my wife took of the event.

Those are my boys there...dark blue 16 year old, Michael yellow 12 year old, Andrew and on the far left my 14 year year old, Matthew...they got a kick out of turn marshaling.

PICS REMOVED BECAUSE THE MANAGEMENT SAYS THEY ARE TOO BIG.....I WILL NOT RESIZE THEM OUT OF PROTEST FOR AN OUT DATED RULE

Later..

That is an awesome looking track, Talon! The one I run on is full of potholes. If it weren't for the cost of gas or the distance, I'd road trip, just to catch a race up there. Looks like an utter blast, and well worth the trip tho.

Come on up ...stay the weekend they race on Sundays as well....but I have keys, so we can race anytime!!

PM me for details.

Tempting, oh so tempting, lol. If I can find the cash for gas, I'm all over that track. Especially with the electrics.. I miss racing the ol' B3.

Racing is where its at. I prefer timed racing over bashing.

Man I wish I could get my son into it. He's 11 and could care less about it. I had cool Tmaxx, didn't care, RC10GT with cool rims and tires, NOPE. All he cares about is Pokemon, his Ipod, and video games.

After being in your first race, bashing is never the same, I'm more competive at it lol. Now you got me missing the track.(stupid os motor) I got to get out there just for the experince again, I miss it. Hope sunday works out for ya talon!
