get the revo...it's the best of buth worlds...not as tough as the savage but it will out drive one anyday....

The one neat thing about the Revo is you can drop it fairly low for a MT and it will handle like a truggy, or you raise it for clearance and travel to clear rougher terrain. With the hop ups out there for Revos, I say Revo. Savage is good too, but if you are looking for a buggy handling but for ALL terrains, go Revo.

Guess I'm just partial to big blocks.......dont get me wrong the 2.5 is a GREAT mill, loved it on my old Rustler, but I like the bigger mill in the RTR.

Traxxas makes a conversion to put a BB in the Revo....but the OS .18 is way more than that light little bastard needs.....there's some big buggy racer guy at my local track Bobby moore...he ran a friends revo wed. night and was pulling laps faster than most buggy drivers do...so you can get good performance from it as well...the revo is a good all around RC....you can bash w/ it until you get your track going and then you can set it up for racing....and they kick ass........good RC to learn on too...has a lot of innovative designs in it and just sucks up bumps better than any RC I've ever seen......

I suppose I may be a little late to chime in, but I would wait and buy new, saving the few extra bucks for the hyper would probably be worth it. I bought a buggy that looked like it was in good shape (used) on e-bay.

The total I paid was $330.00 (I think 370.00 with shipping and the money order charge). To date I am up to 900 dollars on this car, and I have only ran 3 tanks through it. It needed (or at least could use), a wing, body, wheels, steering servo, tranny cases (swaybar mounts crushed from impacts), swaybars (both of the previous are supposed to come with a 9.5 pro), shock rebuilds, one front shock body, new wheels (current ones had such a small recess that you could not use a wrench to remove -- needle nose are not good tools), air filter, fuel line, gas tank (hole melted in it), front steering knuckles, brake linkage, a new right rear CVD, radio batteries, charger for glitch pack, battery for glow starter, glow plugs, a carbueretor boot, temp gauge, and fuel.

Obviously, not all used cars will require this, but it is just alot safer to get a car that has not had anyone else crash it into stuff. But after all of the above, I still can't clear the 40 footer that my buddy can with his stock Hyper.

I was waiting for someone to chime in on a conversion kit!!! He wants a RTR,and having to buy a kit and another mill on top of it is a bit over the top for a first timer and just a basher. But you REALLY want a MT......tall grass and a buggy are not the best combo in the world. You can't really go wrong with the Revo or the Savage.

well its now a monster truck...just can't deicde...

Savage 2.5rtr
Revo 2.5rtr
T-Maxx 2.5rtr

price is a concern....and T-Maxx is cheapert than Savage, than Revo. doh

I would not do the Tmaxx. As a basher the other 2 will work better. I like the Maxx, but most of the time you need to replace bits too often compared to the Savage. Do a search in the MT threads, you will get a TON of info on them. Also,Tower has a Ofna on sale,my be the Monster Pirate.

I own two Revos, two sagages, Two mayhems, a Mugen Prospec and a TT S-3. The Revo is a great all around truck/racer, the Savage is a great basher, neither is stonger than the other based upon my own experiance and onsite observations. As far as buggies go, Ofna is ok,due to the fact that they come with lousy radios. I'm not very fond of the Hyper .21 or the .26 Ofna motors. The LX would most likely be ok, but you'll out grow it in a very short time. The best bang for the buck is by far, the Mayhem RTR! I say that based upon owning and driving two of them, watching others drive thier RTR's and seeing how poorly they handled compared to the Mayhem. The Myhem comes with a kick butt .26, an excellent JR FM radio and very good servos for an RTR. Parts can easily be aquired online thru Horizon or other sources and Horizon has an Excellent warranty on the Mayhem and their service is great (I know, they just rplaced a motor free of charge, including shipping!). You can purchase the Mayhem for $469.00 w/$6.95 shipping @ the following link:

You CAN'T go wrong with this buggy!

Guys,I dont want to steer him from a buggy,BUT he said he will be running in some high grass, not the best place for a buggy.

jeff, u have AIM?

this guy needs 2 figure out what he wants to do most (hmm familar prob)

-Ult

think i want savage. my friends backyard is huge and takes him 1-1 1/2 hrs to mow with a riding lawn mower that can do a wheelie lol. its probably 2" high grass at most i'd say...

will a 1/8 buggy handle that or just not be worth it?

If your going to run in your friends backyard primarily, then go with the Savage.

Nope no AIM Ryan. This is about the best way to get ahold of me.

Savage sounds about the best for ya.

Yep, get a Savage. Revo works best in dirt. Grass would have too much resistance for the small motor in the Revo for you to have as much fun as the bigger engined Savage. Revo will handle better, but for what you are doing, MORE power is the way to go.

I've only been in my friends backyard once and it was about 1" tall tops...talked ot him and he said he cuts it a lot, so its usually short.

hardest part for me right now is deciding what i want...Savage, Nitro Rustler, Buggy....leaning towards teh Rustler right now...its pretty fast and i like speed so.. :D

I had a 2.5 Rustler....my stock buggy would take it in the dirt/grass.....4wd VS RWD. Dont get me wrong I loved the Rustler, but big blocks are the STUFF

alright well now its between...
a

Savage rtr
and the
Revo rtr

thanks guys, I'm sure u saved me a lot of money lol.

Well its now up to you,do a search on these two you will find a lot.

REVO....REVO....REVO
If you like the way things handle when they drive vs all out horsepower get the revo learn to tune that engine and you will be a happy camper......then when you get tired of that engine you'll have all the reasons in the world to get the OS .18 and you will KILL your buddies Savage or whatever he got....
