Will a dirty filter cause motor to stall at idle?

I was running my maxx for about 30 minutes around the backyard(grass) and it started stalling everytime i came to idle...checked the filter and it was real dirty, put a fresh one on and its done fine, what this my problem?

I suppose if its to dirty then it wouldnt be sucking in enough air so yes.

Dirty filter will harm performance and damage your engine. It greatly restricts the airflow, and dirt can get into the engine even easier. Always keep it clean and oiled.

Yeah, I change it everytime its a little dirty. This time it got nasty Quick!..

thanks for the help guys.

I'm no expert on engines, especially RC engines, but I have a question about this comment. Can restricting the airflow (through the filter) really harm your engine? It seems to me that it would just make it run richer eventually choking the engine. Clearly it will effect performance though and if dirt actually got through the filter that I know would very likely be bad for the engine. I am not making a statement or saying you are wrong, just asking a question so that I can be clear on this. Thanks.

Matt

I dont think it would harm it, unless the dirt got through it. As you stated, if will harm performance, but unless dirt gets through the filter, it will not hurt the engine, unless if somehow makes it run too lean...
