I've noticed in several pics that there seems to be a filter in the exhaust to fuel tank line.
Is it a filter or a check valve to maintain pressure in the the tank?
Either way, how necessary is it?

Jeep

someones screwing up somewhere because no filter goes on the pressure line. There is no necisary for a check valve at all.

the filter in the pressure line is to stop 1/2 tank leaning it does the same thing as if you put a really long fuel pressure line (thats what i have read in the forums)

a "check valve" would restrict pressure flow, thus causeing further "1/2 tank leaning"

No AJ, you have no idea what the hell your talking about. A fuel filter in the pressure line will do the same as increasing the length of the pressure line. It add more volume and evens out that pressure moreso than a short line. It DOES help greatly with 1/2 tank leaning issues that many MT's experience, like the Revo to name one.

BTW AJ, do you even know what a check valve is and how it works?

(ok back on my ignore list)

jetmech,
Is there such an item as a very lightly sprung check valve for this application?
It seems it would be something that could do better than a longer line or a filter.
Your thoughts?

AJ, "pressure flow" has no meaning, as "pressure" and "flow" are two different entities, much the same as "heat" and "temperature" are.

For example: A lit cigarette is very high temperature and will burn the hell out of you, but it has very little heat such that you can't warm a room with it. see?

ewwwwwwwwwww, I'm on an ignore list, ruins my day

i c jeep, thanks for explaining

Jeep, I don't know if I've ever seen a check valve that would be able to work with these pressures. I mean it's very minute. On my Revo I was running stock pressure line length and decided to up it another couple inches and it made a huge difference. The 2.5R was a little finicky and 1/2 lean didn't help but my TM gets to temp and stays even through a 30 minute main with 3 fuel stops.

Thanks jetmech,
I havn't had any tuning problems yet, as I'm not familiar enough with the performance yet , plus it is still on the close side past break-in and it seems still a bit rich.
But, I ordered a fuel filter at the same time that I ordered my RTR kit and was thinking I might add it in the pressure line, I didn't know if it would come with one, but it did. I think I'll add a couple of inches to my pressure line length to help with low fuel level lean out.

Thanks,

Jeep

I run the exact same filter on my pressure line as I run as back up to the intake filter on my Revo tank. I roll, and I can idle longer until I get marshalled, and I no longer get half tank lean issues. I have been using Dubro filters mostly, although I have used OFNA ones as well.

Revo,
What does "marshalled" mean?

Jeep

By the way Revo,,received my Hitech 645 servo today,,not installed yet, but it literally feels substantially heavier than the sx-0001 that the kit came with, I'm looking forward to this weekend :)

Marshalling is when a corner or track marshall turns you right side up or in the right direction.

Yeah, in this game, you can "feel" quality!

it ranges from .01"W.C. to almost .5"W.C.
I am such a friggin :loser: to have hooked up a magnehelic to mine....

Hey, at my last, (and first) race, I saw a guy who was running two fuel filters (in-line) and he said it was because of the chance of dirt entering the pipe and finding it's way into the engine. Many people there said he was over-cautious and that he was just make his engine work harder to get fuel. Does this have anything to do with what you guys are talking about?

from my take, there talking about the other line. From the top of the fuel tank to the exhaust nipple. So it works with the pressure so when your starting to run low on fuel it doesn't get to lean.. correct?

Right. And at the beginning of the loop, he is throwing out his Methadone cup...
