Has anybody had any problems with these? I have not had any problems so far with mine.... "knock on wood!". What's the deal with IB?

Tom

Yeah... I heard some talk about this so I hit the web looking for info. Since all my cells are IB4200's... I figured I should see what was going on. I went to SMC's site and they said they no longer import the IB Cells, due to the danger they pose. I read a couple of posts in a forum that google popped up for me and folks are saying they explode violently. Not just one cell all 6 at once. So I figured I would see if any of you guys are having any issues.

I have not had an issue with mine.

I even ejected the pack and drug it down the track once without problems.

I won't be running them much longer since I plan on going Lipo exclusively sometime this season.

good to know about the danger. was it because they were over charged?

rob, what charger and lipo are going with/using. I've been toying about going lipo but the fear of fire keeps me doing it.

I use a Hyperion charger and balancer from Maxamps.

I have some Apogee packs I use for my 18’s and one for the TC.

A Maxamps 3S 8000mah pack is on it’s way for my erevo project and I will be order a pair of 2S 8000mah packs for my STR brushless conversion and my gorillamaxx brushless emaxx.

That is one hell of a pack I have one and have never ran it down in one running session in an RC10B4 with a Mamba Maxx 7700....

thanks rob, which hyperion charger? i saw the article in this month RCD that really peaked my interest in going sans-nitro

So far no issues with mine either. I am not ready to make the jump to lipo. Until they no longer need to be stored in an ammo box I am not really interested. The volatility of them keeps me away from them. I also don't really understand how the whole balancing works yet. Until I do my homework... Lipos are not an option for me.
