Converting a 2s slash to 3-4 s

ESC and Motor, is the bare minimum. Before you start going through axles (if non EHD) and trans/diff gears

Ideally 2s on a higher kv motor (around 4-5000kv) and stock VXL gearing (23/86) is more than enough power for a 1/10 2WD SCT IMHO.

I run Hobbywing 10BL120 G2 WP with a older ezrun 4000kv 4 pole G2 motor, on 2s. 23/86 gearing. Can get about nearly 38 mph. Torque monster too. Granted I do run 272R transmission with a sealed diff, more like tune and durability option instead of a speed thing but still.

Like above a motor and esc would help. A 3s battery also. The only other thing would be bearings if it has bushings like the xl5 did.

I think all slash models have full ball bearings all around. Besides the bellcrank can't remember bc my XL5 slash has ball bearings (plus steel tie rods) although my XL5 rustler had bushings (plus plastic tie rods)

Not sure tho. If they changed that in recent years. Bl2s should have ball bearings tho

Last time I bought an xl5 it had tiny bearings and plastic tranny gears in 06. I know at one point tgey went to 5x8 bushings. Haven't seen one in years.

What if I just got a pinon gear? What size makes it go faster?

If your motor is not running hot, yes, by all means, go up a couple tooth count on the pinon gear and measure temps. Repeat if necessary. Terrain, driving style, and runtime are going to be the deciding factors in your quest for pinion gear dominance.
yeah.webp

You do have an infrared thermometer in your arsenal. Right? :thumbs-up:

What rpm motor would I want?

Can anyone tell me what the bl2s has in it for a pinion?

You can RTFM here.

Support tab will be your friend. You'll find the manual and exploded views there. All are going to come in handy when you go 3S and start breaking the Slash.

I can't even find the pinion gear on my truck
