Hi guys new to the nitro scene me and a few friends are going to buy a few nitro rc's i have been looking at the Jato only because it is sheer power and bashing capablitities. I thought my friends were going to buy 1/10 car but looks like the want a 1/8. i still want the jato but if i follow my friends and get a 1/8 i need some advise on what i should get. these two cars are what my friends are buying Hong Nor X1-CR RTR BB 1/8th Buggy and the HoBao Hyper ST RTR 1/8th Truggy but i don't want to get the same as them.
Please help. Should i get the jato or start looking for a 1/8 car please help.

another question is can the jato keep up with the cars stated????
is it worth getting a buggy that has equal stature so we can all race or is the jato ok?????

what other 1/8 cars are equal to the Hong Nor X1-CR RTR BB 1/8th Buggy.????
If any of you have bought the Jato please tell me the reason for that choice. i am buying my car tomorow with my friends so dont really want to have the worst car.

In a straight line, the jato will probably keep up and outrun them. Off road however... you'll get smoked.

What do you guys plan on doing? Street running? Grass? Dirt? Rough terrain?

The jato does ok on short (2 inches or less, less being better) grass and also ok on dirt if you run some really grippy tires and a soft slipper setting to keep it under control, but it's useless on the rough stuff. It does really great on the street if you lower it and get some decent street tires and even foams.

I had what I thought was a perfect vehicle for everything... I had 3. A jato, 1/8 buggy and 1/8 MT. Each has their place and the places bleed over each other a bit, but as I suggest, each does really well under specific conditions. Out of the 3, the jato is best on-road for high speed runs. The 1/8 buggy is great for off road/short grass/dirt. The 1/8 MT is good for everywhere else, but can be fun on the street as well.

1/8th scales are much more forgiving, durable and versatile. I would suggest a nice truggy or monster truck. The Hyper ST is an excellent choice for a new guy, so is the jammin buggy. A Savage XL would be a great choice or an LST2.
If you buy the Jato you'll be watching them run while the Jato sits in a broken pile.
The jato is a fast onroad truck, that is all that can be said for it.

you have the right idea with a Traxxas product!!! But it doesn't sound like the Jato is right for you. IMO get a Revo! It will do everything you want it to and smoke your buddies too. It's durable and great on road and off. Go with traxxas because of the great customer service, and the engine replacement program, and of yeah there the best. lol

If you have the money, a Losi 8 or a Losi 8T RTR are great. Teh Team Associated RC8T is a great 1/8 scale buggy also. All of these choices IMO will be more than enough to keep up with your friends.

I have to agree with brad. Get the Revo and if you have the money, get the platinum. The Jato is really fast and takes lots of experience to control.

Honestly that seems a bit jaded. I beat the snot out of my jato and have only busted a few parts on it. I run RPM arms though and I think they absorb a lot of the abuse.

How fast do 1/8 buggies go??? i found the INFERNO US SPORTS Readyset which has a .28 engine in but what is the top speed on this machine???? the jato has good acceleration and top speed. I have seen other cars with .28 engines but it states top speeds of 40mph. i think that too slow i want something that has good speed.
Any comments on the INFERNO US SPORTS Readyset .28 would be appreciated also how does INFERNO US SPORTS compare with the X1-CR RTR BB 1/8th Buggy?

Ok. The X1 CR (buggy) or CRT (truggy is a great choice) the RC8T is a truggy, not a buggy, but if you want all round driveability then a truggy is THE choice.
Speed is variable, anything with a decent mill, (.28 and up) can be made to go fast with a bigger clutch bell. 50mph is easily obtainable with any buggy truggy if geared right.
Be aware however the making it go FAST will limit its usefullness on the rougher terrain.
Thats where M/T's rule.
The Jato is VERY fast, but as already said is VERY limited in its useage....
Having almost everything in my arsenal I will agree with charliejp. If you want 1/8 and want a strong, easy to drive and FAST truggy/MT then if you can afford it the Revo PLATINUM is the one..........
Just be prepared to buy a special starter box, (or modify a cheap aeroplane starter) and find a micro receiver for the receiver box.
Traxxas make them or the SR3100 Spektrum will fit......

+1.. I love this thing. I saw a guy with one this weekend who let me drive it, (8t) and it brought back all my nitro memories........

40mph is hauling butt for an R/C, way more than you think. Most people can't control them at 30 mph.

Thanks guys for your input. i have decided to go for the x1 crt with the .32 engine. is this any good? i can't wait to buy my first nitro truggy. guys tell me which you would prefer x1 cr (buggy) x1 crt (truggy) or the hyper st??? i have read a few good things about all cars but really need to know which is most preffered. also how does the force .32 engine compare to the mach .28?

You are making a good choice. The Force .32 is a nice powerful engine for bashing. It is much better than the Hyper mac .28. It tunes easier and makes more power. A truggy is better for bashing. The only downside to any Ofna RTr is the servos are weak and will die quickly. But 99% of RTR R/C's come with crappy servos so don't sweat it. The Hyper ST is a better truggy but unless you plan on racing, the one you chose will be perfect.
The truggy you are referring to is called the Mutilator. It is a fun durable truck.

dont get a ofna lx1 i had the thaing for 3 mounth havent got the engine broke in cause the rear diff went out 3 times pull start broke 3 times i ran 3 tanks and just idealing around and it just brakes no matter what

An X1 CRT with a .32. Are you sure its not a Mutilator?
Either way its a great truggy and yes the Force .32 is a fantastic bashing mill. They produce great power and the Force is an easy tune motor.
I'm guessing it will come with a 13 or 14 tooth clutchbell.
If you're not happy with the speed AFTER proper breakin and tune, get a 1 tooth higher 'bell, but only 1...... Enjoy

Update. the guys i was buying the trucks with gambled all their money away. but i dont care as i am getting my x1 crt can't wait, it all seems sooo interesting. i wish i could get a kit version but it is soo expensive here in the uk. you guys make it sound so cheap. but hopefully place my order soon and take pics and everything. let you guys know how it goes.
