Well after some looking around, I've decided to get myself some type of sandrail/buggy. And since Hpi and Axial just came out with two amazing ones, deliberations have set in.

So I've made myself a list of pros and cons on each, and maybe some other members can weigh in :)

Apache C1 Flux- $610
Pros:
RTR
Threaded Big Bore shocks
1/8
WaterProof
Sway Bars fr/re
4WD

Cons:
(IMO) lack of a real scale look
No Adjustable turnbuckles (come on now hpi)

Axial Exo- $350
Pros:
This is my vision of a real scale buggy
4WD
Threaded shocks
Quick Release battery straps

Cons:
Maybe another $250-300 to get it rtr depending on items used

I'm leaning a little towards the Axial though, I LOVE the the looks of this thing and the detail put into it, plus i have always owned RTR's and it would be interesting to challenge myself into building the Exo. :)

BUT the Apache is plug n play.

Don't know where to go from here, but i need to make up my mind, Whether to start accumulating items for a build, or start saving money for the RTR.

Being a kit is not a con in my book.

RTR equals con for sure. I've never owned a RTR that didn't have issues due to shoddy assembly at the factory.

I am getting the EXO and have zero interest in the Apache.

Actually forgot to take kit out of the cons section, i actually think it's a pro, YOU build the rig the way YOU want it, and from doing so you learn it inside and out. I think I'm def going with the EXO :)

RTR mean you get to rebuild it anyway as Rob stated. Besides, the Axial just looks the business IMHO, plus has top shelf features, and innovative ideas.

Also wondering if a 540 or a 550 should be used, i would think a 540 would be okay with the 4wd, just with a low KV.

**** HPI lol I am going Axial all the way, their products are more superior IMHO and gaurentee you hop-ups wont ever compare standing next to HPI.

Febuary 1st the EXO is released! Hopefully I can get my hands on one!

HPI has been dropping the ball quality-wise recently, so I'd go for the Axial as well.

I've heard that with the new stuff (recon and savy xs) I've had no major problems with my savage x though. It'll definitely be nice to step outside of the Traxxas and HPI box though.

I built an Axial SCX-10 kit a couple of years ago and have had 0 problems other than easily corrected assembly errors that I made.

You only say that cause your name is HPI-KILLER! :hehe: I too would go with axial. That EXO looks bad ass.

Lol I was going to hint towards that, but I would love to give HPI a whirl no doubt. But as far as the 2 go, I am almost 90% certain that the BIG fab companies for Axial upgrades such as Vanquish,STRC 7 the other small guys that fab stuff will put parts out for the EXO.

And no I'm not an HPI-Guy, I may be wrong but I just dont know the extent of HPI upgrades like that.

X2 on that, I have owned 5 or 6 Axials. And if there was a problem, it was always electrical or outside Axials name.
