i need some help i want to us the os 18 tx tz motor and i don't know what would be the best sde pipe for it. i will be using the pull start that comes with the motor. i don't like bump start it is to expensive for me to buy for the revo. i have always ran the 3.3 with the jato side pipe and i love it. i am just trying somthing new and i need a little bite of help on choosing the right pipe for my revo. i have already move my throtle servo forward to my left stering servo hole so i have the room for a side pipe just don't know what will give me the top and bottom end i want to race with. racing is all i do.help is much needed
thx

with the small (mid) block .18 I've heard good things about the resonator. Its pretty cheep, is tuned to the small block engines, and looks really nice!

who make that

i have herd that the jp3 is a good side pipe but not sure what do u think

The JP3 is a good pipe, but it's not for small blocks. It's a 1/8 buggy pipe for the most part.

I know I ran a fantom on my revo with the 18TM and it did really well, but that was a revo specific pipe that mounts in the rear. I then ran the 18TM on my jato with the jato 3.3 single chamber resonator pipe and it did really well too.

I'd try and score a jato 3.3 pipe off ebay for cheap. It would be angled and built correctly to run as a side pipe on the revo as well. It's a bit flatter than a normal pipe, so it will snug up against the chassis better.

so the jatto header will work for the os18txtz then

the reason y i ask that question for is becuase i tryed to use the tsaist header on the 18tm with there gasket and it messed it all up so that is y i am asking. the header i guess was to small. that header was for my traxxas 3.3 header for the tsaist dual exhast pipe

You will need a different header than a traxxas header. Their headers/manifolds are built specific for their type exhaust port on the 2.5 and 3.3, smaller and shorter than most, if not all, others.

For a side exhaust revo, many had used this on their 3.3's and I believe their OS18's:

Before traxxas came out with their spring mounted header, many used this one for the stock pipe location, with a bit of tweaking:

The springs allow give where the stock one bolts solid to the engines. IMO, traxxas kind of dropped the ball on the headers. Sure, theirs make a good seal, but on repeated jarring landings, the weld breaks and the pipe just snaps off. This happened 3-4 times on my revo without direct impact to the engine or exhaust. From 4 wheel'd landings.

My jato pipe also snapped off the same way, from hard landings. I went with an associated pipe on my jato:

However, I had to tweak that one quite a bit to get it to fit right. I don't know where I got it, think someone sent it to me to try on the revo... so I had it on hand to try on the jato. Works well now on the jato though with the jato 3.3 pipe on my old TRX2.5 engine. I was running a 18TM on it, but busted the crankcase...

thx guys i am going to go go with the trinity system for 40 buck it come with the bigblock pipe and the one that fits the os 18tztx thx for your help guys

I have the THS hard coated pipe. They make one for torque and one for top end and I went with the top end one. I think it is great. Only trouble is fitting it on the chassis. Anyone who has this on their truck, how did you get it on there without cutting a huge hole in the back of your truck to let the pipe stick through?

My THS pipe fit perfectly on both my engines, 3.3 and 21TM.
The Georgia state Monster truck champ runs the 18tz's with an OS 2050 side pipe.
He said he has to silicone an Ofna header gasket and a OS header gasket together to get it to seal to the block. The guy knows his stuff.
My 21TM with the THS pipe was just as fast all around as his TZ, he was just 10X the driver I am. He always spanked me.
