First thing you need to try is starting from scratch and re-programming the ESC to the transmitter if the battery pack is good.

He got it from a guy and have no info on it....

Well that didn't work lol. Lights on the esc are flashing like they should but just no go...
 
Use a voltmeter and first check your battery voltage. If voltage is good, connect the leads to the motor. Have your friend apply throttle (both forward and backwards) to see if the motor sees any voltage. If you see voltage, then the motor is toast. If not, go back and try resetting the ESC again.
 
I have no idea but I put a pack that i knew was charged on it and bam it went. Hooked the other one up to my charger and it was under 7v lol. Could have been the reason.
