ESC connection question

Ok, I need to pick the brains of the more experienced again. I have a programming card for my ESC that hooks up via the lead wire that goes to the receiver. I have my receiver in a water tight box and it is a pain to get into it on the fly if I want to tune the truck different and etc. my question is. Can I take a Y harness and hook the ESC lead into it and hook one leg to the receiver and run the other outside of the water tight box to use for tuning and etc of the ESC with my programmer. Prob would use some di electric grease in It for protection if. It would work. Thanks for the help

I have the same problem with mine but I keep the box open in dry conditions (make sure the receiver is held down) and tune it then. Or I keep it sealed up and once I get home I open it up and change the programming. I suppose your idea would work to.

Don't think it'll work. With the ESC still connected to the RX, it probably won't enter programming mode.

I'm not sure, I thought the ESC powered the RX and motor, that is how it is on mine. So when he unplugs the lead from the ESC that goes to the RX it will power down the RX and put the power into the programming box once he plugs it in.

Since it is a cheap mod, I may just buy a Y harness and give it A try then everyone will know haha.

I am under the impression that his idea is to leave the RX connected to avoid opening the box to unplug it. This would mean the RX and the program card are plugged in simultaneously, which I don't believe will allow the ESC to enter program mode. Might work with TX off, though. Never tried it.

Why not just use an extension instead of the Y-cable. Leave the plug outside of the box and plug and unplug as necessary.
