Hi,

I’m new to this forum living in the UK
I am looking at why my fishing bait boat is not working with lithium cells in 2S configuration the jumper has not been connected.
The instructions say for correct operation it’s says to configure the jumper for lipo or NiMH

It works with lead unconnected
Below is a link to the page, the lithiums are fully charged in 2S config so 8.4 volts
https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-quicrun-1060-brushed-waterproof-esc-sbec-404964

Best regards,

Jason

Hi jumper is not fitted
That would be your problem. It needs to be on the LiPo setting uf using a LiPo battery. What battery are you using?

And by the way, that ESC is not really meant for boats. At least not ones that have an enclosed compartmemt. It may overheat if not in open air. They make water cooled ESC's for boats.

Hi these are lithiums 2S configuration, so nominal voltage 7.4V max 8.4V
What does the jumper actually do is there any internal circuitry ?

This is quite a large bait boat, many folk use these ESCs the hulls are quite a big space so no risk of overheating

Your jumper needs to be on the LiPo pins.

Like this.

I would also remove the other jumper to set the ESC to F/R (forward/reverse), since it's a boat. No need for a brake.

Kevin thanks get that but what does the internal circuit of the ESC do is it voltage limiting hence not working with the lithiums ?

Oh, I gotcha. Let me download the manual. Be right back.

It sets a low voltage cutoff, so that the lithium cells don't get damaged by being over-discharged. This isn't as much of a concern with nickel batteries, (although it's still not good to run them flat), which can also have more voltage sag under load, in which case the cutoff would be inconvenient.

Fog by me Guys use bait boats . they have food for any type of fish you want to catch from bottom feeders.drum cats .to topwater floating...,,

So do they actually bring the fish in with the boats?

We used to fish at a dam near here. You weren't allowed to get anywhere near the dam, which was where all the big fish were. So people would tie balloons to their line so the wind could pull their bait close to the dam. When you landed a big one, you were reeling in about a half mile of line 🤣

But the balloons kinda kept you fishing the top water. A boat that could run your line out and drop it would be pretty cool.

no all boats do is drop baits to bring fish near.. they do have fishing boats with rods and reels that do catch fish .but the dish I fish for would run away with those boats. a 52" northern pike,,or a 5 pound large mouth bass by by boat...lol

I would love to catch a Pike. Best game fish we have here is Walleye. Lots of Bass too. But the Walleye I've caught have been the most fun to bring in.

So what are you fishing for? I have seen bait boats, but never seen one in use. Pretty cool idea.
I fish for carp the boat has a hopper which you can place your rig on to take it to the desired location, I have a deeper sonar (which I tow) that tells you about the bottom of the lake and depth, so you can distinguish between weed and and gravel, it also has autopilot so you can program in waypoints and also set a home location ideally close to where you are fishing so it will return without having to steep.

I also use it in winter for putting out large dead baits for the pike so you don’t have to cast and risk pulling a hook out

That's cool. Got any pics of this setup? Sounds pretty cool.

we Have Muskie. Northern Pike..and 6" in dia alligator snapping turtles so says my 31 year old some he said it freaked him out when the thing swam under his kayak.and every type of pan fish in Axelrod's fish dictionary.(I own 1) caught all and ate all...even back when Detroit river was Orange (thanks zebra mussels) now clear water you can see down to 30'..still alive no chemical contamination....
The best fighting fish was a 30-pound silver drum.2nd was large mouth bass 6 pounder

I've pulled in a 16" diameter snapper. He was 45 lbs. It was a 2 hour long fight to bring him in, afyer fighting another big one before him for an hour. I was worn out yhat day. The one I drug in had a head on it big enough to eat my fist, and its neck would shoot out about 10" when he tried to get ya. He was turned into turtle stew and deep fried nuggets 😋
