Hey everyone, this is halarious, here I am posting a noob post. Oh well. Anyways yeah, my engine won't start and I don't get why, I reset all the screws as suggested in the manual, I checked to see the glow plug still worked and the glow ignitor has a charge in it still too and it has fuel and there are no leaks in the fuel line or in the pressure line. I don't get it, it just won't start! (In case you don't know, I have a XXX-NT with the stock engine.)

Is the engine primed? Put your finger over the exhaust tip, and rip the cord a couple times until you see the fuel reach the carb. Then put on the glow ignitor and give it a rip. Also, is your carb open when it's sitting at idle? You should have about a 2mm gap when you look down the carb throat.

The xxx-nt was my first experiance into RC. I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't know about breaking an engine in, priming an engine, glow plugs, nothing!!!! Needless to say, the first month of owning that thing was the most miserable. Then I found this site and a lot of things became clear. That was about 2 years or so ago. Now, 6 engines, 30 gallons and 4 trucks later, I think I'm getting the hang of it!

I always prime my engine before attempting to start it so needless to say, yes it was primed. I also set the idle screw according to the recommended setting when I was reseting the other screws.

I would suggest making sure that the fuel is actually making it into the carb. I had a mill awhile back that I set at the factory settings, but the fuel inlet was actually being blocked off by a needle setting. To make it easier, I put it on a starter box, & just kept the mill turning over while I messed with the low end & idle screws till it started... If you try to blow through the fuel line, be very careful not to get fuel in your eyes. I've personally witnessed someone getting a faceful of Nitro. NOT FUN...

Yeah, you see the funny thing is, the car has always worked A1 up until now, this last recent dilema where it just refuses to start! That's why I'm so confused, it's always worked before and never given me a hard time, now all of a sudden no matter what I do, it just won't start! I can change the needle settings a million times and until I'm blue in the face but the darn thing just won't start.

Well, if your getting fuel into the carb, & your glowplug is burnin bright, she should start... If your sure the fuel is getting in, then try a fresh plug & a freshly charged ignitor. It's gotta kick over...

Sure seems logical to me and I hope your right too. I am going to my hobby shop tomorrow and am going to get fresh glow plugs and my ignitor will be 100% charged and what I'll do then is I'll try it right then and there and if it STILL doesn't start then maybe they can help me out.

It still definately sounds like the needles are messed up & not allowing fuel into the carb. I've been there myself... Goodluck, & let us know what it was...

Well, I took it down to the lhs and bought myself a new glow plug of a rather good quality and I put it in, right in front of the store and attempted to start it, and low-and-behold the SOB wouldn't start, so I asked the man to help me. The guy came out and tried it but got confused, the professional at this stuff got confused! How would I ever figure it out then, he said he'd have to take it for a while and figure it out and he'll give it back once it's working. My guess though, I think you're right man, I bet it isn't getting fuel. I will keep this up-to-date as I know more too.

Unless you know this guy, a lot of hobby shop "workers" are exactly that... workers. They sell the stuff, not necessarily know how to fix it.

I hope it works out for you though.

Yeah I know, but this guy DOES actually know what he's talking about, they only hire people in that store infact that do know a lot about all forms of RCs so, it'll work out I am sure. They helped me get it going when I first got it there too because I had no idea how to get it started when I first got it, and they got it all set up for me.

Well, that's good to hear. I have one store out of three that has one guy that I'll ask advice on. The other 2 stores have an RC "Mechanic" that I just blatenly ignore. I think they get kickbacks on what they push you to buy.

Well this an interesting piece of information I just found out, when I bought my car there (my first nitro ever) I asked them to set me up with everything I'll need to get started right and naturally fuel was a necessity, turns out, those bastards gave me 15% air nitro fuel instead of what they told me, 20% car nitro fuel. Wow, I don't think I'll trust them again, and the guy on the phone was like yeah I thought you were running air fuel it looks too pink, you shouldn't run that, when it's those same people who set me up with that poop in the first place! Oh lord they're fun, I might just have to look for a new lhs.
