I recently bought a Losi LST truck. I have had problems with the transmission output shaft and solved it. Then yesterday I was running the truck up and down the golfcourse fairway and when the truck turned around it stopped. Thinking it was the transmission again I brought it in to investigate. After some investigation I decided to take the engine out. Upon inspection towards the back I could see that the connecting rod had broken though the block. Of course this would mean the engine would need to have a new connecting rod but beings it broke through the block I have to get a whole new engine. Any idea on what I could have done wrong. I have run the truck several times and it ran fine. Anyone else ever had this happen to them? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Did you properly break in the engine? Could you see a trail of white smoke coming from the exhaust?

As for a new engine, I suggest a Wasp .28 :)

Immediately prior to the engine quitting, did you lose traction and run some extremely high RPMs? (taking off in wet spots or spinning donuts)
If not, I would thing it was running way too hot or there was a defect in it.
Since it's new, I'd suggest sending it back for their inspection. They might replace it for you.

Yes it did have white smoke from the exhaust...I was on my 5th or 6th tank of gas since break in. It did not rev. high, I think that the instant the connecting rod broke then broke thru the block the engine immediately stopped. For now I will just go ahead and buy a new engine and use this as spare parts. Thanks for the feedback!!!
