Engine temp?

The gen 2 byrons has 16% oil and the race 3000 blend has 10%. These are the only two my lhs carries.

I just wanted to point out that it's not the oil that makes the engine run hotter. It's the fact that in order to get a good tune with high oil content, one must lean the engine more then they would with less oil content to get the same performance. Often with high oil content fuels 12%+ you can actually start to run lean trying to get a good tune and that's where the higher temps come from. I have heard that engines have been tested to as low as 4% oil content and there was no signs of extra wear, this was conducted on on-road high rpm race engines but the oils were of the highest quality. Personally I like to run 8% oil content so I have just a little extra protection, but not too much. Like the saying goes, too much can be just as bad as too little.

You sir are correct, I just wanted to give some additional information so people know "why" more oil causes higher temps. :)

You might wanna re-read that.
Its says that he switched from Odonnells to Byrons which was 4% less oil in it. Well unless I'm mistaken Odonnells has 8% oil in it so that would mean Byrons has 4% oil in it....or am I not reading it correctly? I've never used Byrons so I'm not sure.

obviously yall know a good bit about fuel and i have a small hobby shop about 50 miles from my house he stocks traxxas top fuel 20% and he will get 30% upon request. i have bought a couple of gallons of torco 20% but b4 i bought the torco i was running a half gallon of 30% that was given to me by a buddy. seems to me the torco ran very well just after running the 30% and really didnt have to move my hsn or lsn much but in yalls opinion which is better traxxas 20 or the torco 20 i just do it as a around the house hobby just normal backyard bashing

Gotcha. I was referring to the O'donnell's with 14% oil content. The Byron's gen 2 20% has 12% oil.
