engine STILL burning clutch

well got the stuff yesterday and started puttin it on and ran in to a problem, the slots in the chasis dont move the engine over enough to make contact with the spur!!!!!so i tried something....i shimed the opposite side of the engine with a PENNY :) to move in over and i thought it was enough. but it drove fine for about 10 seconds and the truck stopped and started this WiZZInG sound, the tips of the gear were gone. its still usable i think but the slots will have to be modified. also in the short 10 seconds i drove the clutch bell had a cloudy covering on it and when itouched it, i wish i hadnt. i thought the clutch was universal and would fit all t-maxxes

:flaming:

no, i dont know whats up with this thing, i should of sticked with the 2.5, alot cheaper!!!lol

so does cutting the chasis sound like its the only way to go?

the slots that are on the chasis that move the engine left and right arent allowing me to move it close enough to the spur gear, its about a 1/4" from touching the gear, thats my only choice to make the setup work

had the same issue that you have. there are 2 options, lengthen the slots or if the pinion and spur are almost touching you can raise the engine mounts a tad. the first option is porobably better because raising the engine will raise the center of gravity.

O, sorry i got it now, ya first i would do the engine closer thing and then try the engine highering.

well i raised the mounts a little and made sure it was meshing, drove it around and was impressed with the power it has now, BUT the clutch seems like its trying to engage all the time because if i let the brake off the truck takes off but the rpm's are at idle and dont speed up if it takes off, also after running it, the mesh between the bell and spur was very tight and their was a sign of clutch dust on the chasis.
