engine running hot

i have a traxxas 2.5 engine it's running rich but still seems to get very hot smoking can anybody help

How hot? Do you have a temp gun or not? What car is it in? How much fuel has been run through it? Traxxas mills tend to run a little hotter than normal but there's other issues with them as well. Smoking...do you mean blue smoke all the way through the power band?

temp is about 310 it cuts off around this temp and this smokes from the head

Yeah, that's too hot. Try sealing up the carb base and backplate. What vehicle and how much fuel?

Ummmmm, thats not good, as in BAD. Check for air leaks either around the carb or back plate. That would be my guess if you're rich but still hot.

I have a 2.5 in my Nitro Sport and it was running hotter then normal and I couldnt find any leaks or anything, I then noticed the rubber sleeve that covers where the throttle slides in and out was ripped. I got carb rebuild kit from tower and dont have any problems now. Ck ur carb over and see if an o-ring is pinched or anything, and listen to what everyone says, they help me out all the time.
