What's the proper way to hold the crankshaft so it won't spin when attaching or pulling the flywheel? I have a flywheel wrench, but the crankshaft still spins.

They make a wrench that you take the gp out and screw it into the hole. it works great just make shure that it has a soft end on it or it will scratch the hell out of the top of the piston. there like $20 at my lhs.

Or, you can rotate the crank until the exhaust port is covered up by the piston, then fill the cylinder through the glow plug hole with ARO (after run oil), then put the glow plug in. Just make sure you turn the crank in the direction you need to tighten/loosen the nut. The oil will hydro lock the engine until you drain the oil out.

I take out the carb and stick the end of a toothbrush down the crank opening. That way you don't put any stress on the conrod.
