In the recent explosions in engine questions, and the decrease in compression on my TRX .15 I decided to start a poll. I want to see what engines last the longest, and run the hardest.

Please state your "favorite" engines and explain how long they last, and how much power you see from them. Not what the box tells you now, what you like. :)

If possible could you give information detailing about low-end power and high-end power, what model it is in, and if possible the average amount of fuel they last through (To the closest gallon of course) :)

This may be one of the deciding factors on for my next engine. I'm leaning towards the OS CV-X right now. But maybe this will help me decide :)

I'm a big fan of Fantom engines. Great all around performer. I have one (Fantom 15FR) mounted on my T-Maxx. I recently put it up against El Pirata's Nitro Star 21BB powered Savage, and his comment was "Not bad for a 15". My Fantom trailed the 21 due to his better jump off the line, but it held position on the 21 the entire length of the course. I currently have the Fantom geared for more low end. This fact makes the performance in the speed race even more astounding. Imagine if I had it geared for speed, it might have beaten the 21.

Anyway, I have two gallons through it already and have heard that they last as long as ten or more gallons of fuel before needing a rebuild.

I have nothing but good things to say about the engine...it is awesome.

Well I ran my novarossi for about a month everday for 2 or 3 hours...everytime i ran outta gas, refilled then out for more. every other tank recharge

novarossi good engine, still has good compression. I'm gonna drop that engine back in the ntc3 come this summer..too bad it's pullstart

O.S and Rossi makes the best engines! Go with that CV-RX its a good engine! I also have the new 2.5 and it hauls ass! Kiked a Picco .21 the other day.

I assume its for a T-Maxx...

I have used..

TRX .15 good for a stock engine 4+ gal.
Fantom .15 great hi-end finicky 5+ gal
OS CVR-X .15 Great all around engine 4+ gal
TRX 2.5 Kick Ass easy to tune and strong 3+ and kicking.

The 2.5 is my choice at this point.

I run an RB Concepts. I have had it for about 6 months, with about 3 gallons through it. Still runs like new. Actually, the more I run it, the better it is getting. Very strong and very very_fast. Its a little more expensive, but well worth the money. They don't rate the car by HP or RPM, but they rate them by stars as compared to their other engines, so you get a better idea of which is faster than the next. I think all that HP ratings and RPM range is all hype to get you to buy their engine. But thats just me. I think its all about craftsmanship and quality of material used.

I had the yokomo .18, and that engine is easy to tune and is a strong runner. It started to leak, but changing the gaskets is easy and solved the problem. I ran it for about 4 months, 2 gallons of trinity but now it is in my cousins HPI Nitro MT and it runs great!

Well it's actually for a RC10. But.. any .15 will do for my comparison. I like the 2.5 idea, BUT. Will it bolt into the RC10?

I know the 2.5 is a powerful motor, they last a while as well.. Just how would it bolt on?

I THINK all you need is the 2.5 rusty header and they have them out last time I was at my LHS they had it in.....

Mmmmmm, TRX 2.5. I'm getting one for my HPI Nitro RS4 Racer. If they can make a truck haul, i should be doing well considering my car weighs only 3.5 lbs. I had an O.S MAX, but I can't really comment on it as I'm the second owner and I'm not sure how old it is. The compression is bad and that's why I'm getting the new engine.

Well to hell with the 2.5. The rebuild kit is friggin 70 bucks JUST for the piston/sleeve. But I did find something interesting.. 30 bucks for the .15 pro.. I may just keep it for a while. A local here said he got 10 gallons through one on a road car. I don't know whether to believe him. He is a pretty trustable/knowledgable guy though. He had a nice losi with a picco .15... Yum... Anyways... If I can rebuild this POS with 30 bucks, more power to me. I'm not sure yet.. Going to go through the pro's and con's of rebuilding first lol.

The Rebuild kit for the 2.5 is expansive because its engineered for performance so it can last long and perform twice as good as the PRO15. Done.

the piston and sleve for the os cvr .15 are 90$ half the price of the new motor!:wtf: it is a very powerful and reliable motor though i would not go back to the trx pro.15 it replaced pro .15 6+gals. cvr 5+gals but this is running it until it absolutely refused to start:smoke:

O.S. wins engine longevity by gallons compared to othe manufacturers, and if you through in the ceramic piston and sleeve into the OS you are supposed to get 20 gallons without a replacement.

I got roughly 7 gallons out of my TRX .15Pro before it died...

Got about 4-5 out of a Megatech M-16, and it's still kicking after a port/polish/rebuild...

(Just got through break in... it's starting to scream... porting kicks ass):ahh:
