engine for rc10gt

Hey guys i want to put a non pull start engine on my rc10gt pluswhat type of shaft do i need to get i amlooking at os,fantom,sirio thanks for your help.

I believe you need an engine with a short crank. A lot of makers will make a short shaft version of some of their engines. I know OS makes a short shaft version of their .15 and .18 CV's. If you end up getting a regular shaft, you can always easily cut it to make it the right length.

Yep, the RC10 Gt requires a short crank engine. As Candy man mentioned you can always cut a crank down on any of the mills you listed. Or OS sells a short crank version that should just drop right in, I'm not sure what other manufacturers sell a short crank engine.

OK, then I'm right. Cool. Haven't owned a GT for a few years. So basically, any engine that's a drop-in for a T-Maxx will work, too...

Thats the new OS TZ turbo. Little on the expensive side, but has some power!

you can always go with a cv-r i have one and like it alot holds a tune really good and has alot of power for a .12 it can get my rc10gt to do a wheelie!.. but you can't go wrong with os.. and about the shaft its not that hard to cut only took me about 5 mins

I have a friend who owns an RC10GT and wants to put in a .18, will it fit in the stock mount like a .12 or .15 does? I understand about the shaft being cut so thats not the worry it's whether the holes are spaced correctly to bolt it into the stock mount
For example the hotbodies .18 at new era, Also it would be preferable if the engine was compatible with a roto-start backplate for future upgrade from pullstart, Any ideas what engine he should go for?

Well it appears i now have the knowledge to answer my own question.......
Yes timmy you should be able to drop in any small block .15 or .18 into the rc10 however new era do a .21 mount if you want to go bigger, Not sure about your roto-start question but i have seen roto-start for .12 - .18 engines advertised, IT appears there are 2 types of starting mechanism one where the one-way bearing is just under the pullstart and slots onto a starter shaft coming from the engine (thru the backplate) and the other where under the pullstart there is just a smooth bolt (no threads) which goers into the backplate and the one-way bearing is inside the engine which this bolt goes into, I dont know what the names of these 2 designs are.

But i know that the second design (beaaring inside the engine) appears to be older and now obsolete, As my friend Dan has been informed they no longer make the (AE)pullstart for his RC10GT and the other one doesn't fit cos one-way bearings are bigger than the hex part (top) of the bolt style he needs and so the hexagonal hollow on the puyllstart is too big
ANYONE know where he can get this, I will get the part number from him if needed.

Excellent, Thank You .21Rc10GT, He can buy the backplate one and convert to a modern syle, Altho i think he now wants to 'drop-in' a .18 pullstart such as the xtm or hot bodies, Does anyone know if he can get a rotostart for this?

I dont think he can buy a roto start for those. But, i believe this will work for the OS .18:

Can anyone tell me how to fit my o.s. 18 cv-r into my gt... i just read this above and i get that it will fit but can anyone in detail give me specifics about what clutch bell flywheel ... works ?
