i ve got a line on a R2D thats new for a fair price.
the DNAs are out of stock everywhere i think. how much are they? i havnt really looked

They usually run around $70 to $80, and some vendors sell them with the 225MG servo that they use. A lot of people ditch the mini and go to a full size servo, but it seems to work pretty good with the mini.

The most important aspect to any dig is going to be the setup, and you pretty much need to expect to take it apart and do some adjusting, grinding, sanding, etc... to get any of the units to work as precise as they can be. It's just a gamble, some dig units work good out of the box, but a huge number of them need to be taken apart and "fine tuned" before you ever start using them. You will also want to mount the servo where it has a straight pull on the linkage if it's possible, it will work much better that way.

That X-79 looks awesome.

After I complete my current build with the Warthog, I may have to sell off my Savage and start an X-79 build.

Have you settled on a chassis yet Tim?

not totally yet no. the X79 i think is gonna be the one though. i like the slamd look it has, and is just big enough to install a dig unit and have a bit of spare room.

but before i take this plundge, a local buddy of mine and i are going to get some tube and solid rod and see what we can braze up.

we also discussed flat chassis plates. and i have an idea that i should be able to cut out in 30 minutes or so. I'm not much for the flat chassis, but i figure it would be a Quick unit to make, and if it works as good as the stock axial chassis, may be worth making a few and seeing if there is any interest.

for the tuber i would like to build, i looked around at a BUNCH Of 1:1s, and found two that i liked alot. I'm going to cruch them together, taking the rear from the one and the front from the other and see if i can get something put together in the next few days.

nice thing is it doesn't look like any current tuber available and has been used in teh 1:1 arena of rock crawling for yrs with pretty good results.

So if i can pull it off and it works well, i may do a few of these to have a couple comp guys test them out and see how they work. if they do well, we may start to produce them in small quantities. time will tell here.

but for a purchased chasses i think i ve narrowed it down between the X79 (most probable) and the Warthog.
