flm savage, this honda guy is asking about his E-Maxx, and I think you might be able to help him out since he's trying to get the 6.5 system set up. It would be great if you could offer some of that wisdom that you've got floating around.

Well i did some searching and there are no real direct replacement cvd's for the truck. I did find a few writeups on buying random parts to make a stronger shaft but i don't want to do any of that. I decided since i spared no expense with any other part of the build, i might as well keep it up. After watching their second video here
http://gcmachine.ca/index.php/gallery/video

I decided they must be decent arms. For 8 aluminum arms, bump steer kit, center and outer CVD's, it was $277. Thats more than i wanted to spend but this truck is going to be an absolute beast.
Let me know what you guys think.

Those are sweet and if you can't find any replacement cvd then I would just go with that kit. When you get done show some videos.

will do. You can order replacement parts from them so i feel better about it.

Then I would order it. those thing are sweet. Do you have any overheating problem with your gearing at the end of the run when you batteries are dead? I ordered the wrong pinions mod1 instead of mod 0.8 for my emaxx. I think I am going to order a 17 tooth pinion with a 68 spur from this website, will it work? I want to make sure I won't have any overheating problems by the end of my runs when I spend $15 on a pinion. http://kershawdesigns.com/ or these http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=32pinion5mm&cat=40

i run 17/66 so i am thinking you will be ok. I never got to the end of my battery pack but i ran it hard for 20-30 minutes under driving conditions that normally would have gotten my 6800 mamba pretty hot. The heat sink helps out tremendously i am sure.

Now i just have to wait a week for my arms and shafts to get in.

In my E Maxx with a novak 6.5 system I am running a 10t pinion and a 76t spur but I also have big ol Moab XL tires on it and have set up to crawl along or hit a jump and with this set up I am getting 150 degree temp on the motor 110 on the esc and 130 on the batteries after about 25 minutes of all around bashing, I don't know if that is good or bad because I have looked for max temp specs on my system and can't find them any where, but I am guessing its ok because it has not done a thermal shut down on me, I might drop down to a 72t spur.

his or mine? mine are buried in this thread somewhere. I will be posting a new slew of pics once my exarm conversion gets here. The dang center cvd's are being a pain right now. the fit is sooooo tight that i had to use c-clamps to get the carriers on......

I got my 6.5 today and installed it, It is crazy fast and powerful. With my slipper slipping alot it could still flip the truck over. It ran it about 15 minutes and it was aroun 130 F so I am going to gear it to a 15 tooth pinion. My glitches when i slowly apply the throttle, I have the lipo cutoff on. Does any one have any suggestions.

Could you describe "glitches"? It could be the sensored motor catching up with itself, I've heard people mention of that on the goat sensored systems.

I might have a brand new HV Pro 4.5 system for sale soon if you know anyone interested, never been out of the box.

WOW!!! That a really nice and strong set-up, now i look at my stock e-savage and cry...seriously tho, Very nice!!:whhooo:

using the novak smart stop? I have the same problem. It goes away after one good WOT.

Yes it is the novak smart stop. when I hit more than half throttle it does not do that But half throttle flips my truck over=devil. I love the system.

have you replaced the driveshafts yet? they aren't going to last much longer if not. I went with the kershaw designs dogbone setup for the center and then the exarms come with beefy cvd's.

I have the new version emaxx so they should hold up. I drove it again today for about 15-20 minutes and my voltage went from 8.3 to 7.6 and the temp was around 150 F. It flips my truck over so easy.

still waiting on the exarms to get here. Did anyone else shim their diffs? I read about how sloppy they were and yet they don't seem to be bad at all. Maybe hpi started shimming them more?? I am looking for play and there is a HAIR but not nearly enough to justify pulling the diffs to shim them

Well here's the latest news.

I have been waiting on the GCM parts since the end of June so i started emailing them and i must say, they have the BEST customer service in the business. You WILL NOT find better anywhere. All my e-mails were replied to in less than an hour and for the most part i had a reply back in a few minutes. He was willing to dismantle his truck and send me his prototype arms and cvd's to use until we figured out where mine were and then i could sell them when my order came in. I told him to wait a few more days and then i called the post office. They were holding them and they never gave me notice!!!!!! So i got them all installed and the truck is absolutely perfect now. Longer arms, cvd's, a rear bump steer kit and aluminum braces were installed today and the handling gained is unreal. I can cut the wheel at 75% speed and it just digs down and turns. If i cut it at 100% it just starts spinning around. I am ready to put it up against any revo that comes my way. I'll get a video tommorow and post it up. The truck is perfect now and i couldn't be happier. I'll post a full mod list later.

Full mod list:
E savage
Novak HV 6.5 w/5mm shaft
Spektrum DX 3.0
Hitec 5955 Steering
GCM extended brushless edition chassis
GCM extended Exarm conversion
GCM/Rd logics CVD's on the outdrives
GCM bumpsteer kit
GCM chassis braces
Kershaw Center dogbones
2x MaxAmps 2S 8000Hv lipos
Losi LST2 shocks

Thats all of it i think. Next on the list of upgrades is a nice set of wheels and tires but after that i am thinking i will just have to wait for something to break before i do aything else to it.

few pictures for you. I need to push out my front turn buckles a little more.
