I just picked up an older e-maxx(the one with the novak ESC and battery trays not box's) and i was wondering what type of things i need to look for to replace it already has rpm arms all the way around. Just some info is all i need
 
Same as all maxx's. Bulks, carriers, axles, drive shafts,... Everything! Seriously, I was going to look into fitting the newer style slipper on mine. Haven't looked close enough to even know if it's possible, though.
 
I disagree. A box stock E-Maxx like the one you have is not as fast as a T-Maxx, therefore you are apt to see less serious damange. Bulkheads and arms yes, no doubt. However, I don't think you need to worry about carriers, axles and driveshafts unless you plan on upgrading your powerplant.
 
That's a good point lessen. The power isn't there to shred drive components. But it gets close with some good 4600 intellects. The old slipper can still handle it, with a good eye on it's adjustment. But they're still fast enough to destroy themselves from impacts and crashes. They're heavy old dawgs!

I really see no reason to upgrade the powerplant as of yet its got twin titan 550's on it right now but i NEED to put traxxas connectors on it cuz right now it has tamyia

yes it seems to be heavier than my revo 3.3 when it has batteries in it
 
I gotta tell ya, I'm damn impressed with the old 2 speed tranny. I run some 21t doubles in mine. Haven't had one problem with the trans and the motor mount is plenty robust. A good upgrade is the EVX 2 esc. Water proof and handles 2 more cells. I haven't ran mine with 7 cells yet. With all that weight, it's easy to endo it off of jumps without steady throttle input. And that always seems to result in a broken rear bulk. I'd say some aluminum bulks would be a great first upgrade. I really haven't broken anything else. Heavy duty turn buckles help, too. The old ones snap or pull apart pretty easy.
 
Well, water really doesn't affect electrical motors in rc's. Not sure why, though. I never have submerged mine, but they have been soaked. I just give them a shot of motor cleaner and lube the bushings after they've been wet.
 
I wouldn't say the Titans are waterproof but like Metalhead Matt said water doesn't really affect electric motors I used to have an E-Maxx 3905 which came with waterproof servos the EVX2 esc and waterproof reciever box I used to take the body off and spray it down with a water hose when I was done bashing it and it didnt seem to harm the motors any at all. I then put some Kershaw Designs 700 H.O. motors on it they reccomend submerging them in water and letting them run for like an hour just to break them in.
 
Well, water really doesn't affect electrical motors in rc's. Not sure why, though.
Because water by itself is actually a poor conductor of electricity. But when you add minerals and such, as you find in ground water, it becomes more conductive. But... brushed RC motors run at such a low voltage, it's not a strong enough current to break the resistance of water.

As long as you stay below 15v or so, your brushed motors are fairly safe to run submerged. But corrosion will eventually increase your chances of a short. So just make sure to get everything dry and relubed after running in water.

When I raced slot cars, those tiny Wasp motors we ran were fun to work on (sarcastic voice). I used a synthetic dielectric lube from Superlube to lube the bushings. Just a tiny bit on a toothpick was it.

Then on the commutator (copper band where brushes make contact on armature) I put a tiny drop of CRC 2-26 which helped improve electric connection. This stuff actually made our little cars run better.

The reason this helps is because water suppresses the sparks generated between the brushes and commutator, helping them wear in better, and more evenly 😉

You gotta make sure you relube your motor after running in water. Bearings/bushings will rust/corrode fairly quickly after being wet, and once that conductive corrosion starts getting broken loose and into places where it shouldn't be, bad things happen.

It is 6S brushless maybe just the fan is not water proof like every othervone

I was just giving Matt and cwal some info about brushed motor breaking-in and such.

I don't particularly care to get my RC's even a little damp if I can help it. While it's fun to splash around, muddying things up, cleaning up afterwards makes me cringe. Easiest way to clean up - toss it in the shower and hose it down 😅 As long as you don't have power to it... no worries. Then dtench it in WD40 and tear it down to dry everything off and re-lube everything.
 
I try to avoid puddles but it is morning dew . It is my pride and joy I owned own 20 plus years ago. I tell you mu first one wasn't as fun as this one my house is surrounded by 85 acres of field

We have a large field out front of my apartment. Big enough to get the 6S Kraton up to top speed and keep it there for about 60 yards or so. I keep meaning to buy a couple ramps to use out there, but other things require all my money before I get to that 🤪

My first attempt at building a ramp and it works great but gotta make a bigger one now

Wow. Yeah, @CanadianNEWB this has got to be close to a record for reviving old threads. I was so out of it I didn't even look at the previous replies.
