Hey y'all I'm still working on getting a brushless truck together. I've decided that I need one that's about as fast as my nitros, but water RESISTANT, so my wife and nephews can drive it once in a while. I still plan on getting the flux hp, but not right now. I found a new 3903 roller on ebay and the vxl system for it, total cost about 350-400. I have a new 2.4 ghz already for it, so no problem there. Should I go for the vxl or just get a MM for it?

The VXL would make it meet your waterproof requirement. Traxxas states that their VXL ESCs are waterproof, though I wouldn't play submarine with it.

Ok, I never thought about the vxl being water resistant, I was mainly concerned with the rx box and servos. I just wonder what kind of speeds that combo would get.

instead of opening nother emaxx related thread, "sorry for the thread jack" just curious if anyone on here ran a vxl setup on a older e-maxx? with the motor being 3500kv and as heavy as the truck is, i'd think it would run hot. will it? i'm considering changing my current combination. i dunno if i will yet, it runs really well. i'll try to get videos after all the parts i just ordered come in.

I am not sure how well they would run on a single motor set-up. The E-Maxx is kinda heavy. I have heard of running twin ESC and motors...that would kick it down the road pretty good I think.

i did a quick google search. the single vxl motor setup is not sufficient. it will run hot and won't run much faster than stock.

my setup i have now runs really well, i'll try to get pics soon. i also have a duratrax evader with a forward only novak esc and 12 or 13t speed gems motor. running one 9.6 volt 8 cell pack runs it really well too. i was impressed when i tested it out thismorning.

i think it runs better than the hobbywing 4300kv setup i was using...

The VXL system is designed to replace single motor single battery set ups, for a E Maxx you need a Novax HV Brushless system or Castle Monster Max system with the bigger brushless motors and higher voltage handling ESC's to get really good speed and performance IMO...

Hell, I'd run 2 vxl's if I found a good enough deal on them. Bout the only way to have a waterproof, brushless Maxx. Wish Mamba would get their act together and Make a waterproof esc. Hobbywing will probably beat them to it.

My neighbour has a emaxx and he runs both single and twin set ups with no problems. He was running 2 vxl's with 7 cell each and it was a beast. Just heavy has Hell and he snapped it in half. If its geared right you should be ok I would think. With 2 installed it would almost do a backflip but it was to heavy it would catch the front bumper.

yea, i'm running a neu motor with a mamba max esc and 2 8 cell ni-mh packs. it's very very heavy. but it still picks the front end up and it's quick.

Just pulled the trigger on a MM maxx!

I guess patience pays off. I got a MM maxx new for 515 shipped. Should be fine for my wife/nephews to drive with the two nimh packs. Guess It'll be for dry days, oh well.

You can find the evx2/dual 550 setups pretty cheap these days. Always an option for down the road if you need one. That MM Maxx will still be wild for someone with no experience, even on 14.4 volts.:)

I think it comes with 16.8 volts, but yeah, it's gonna be fast. I might get a brushed setup for it, not sure. I really want a flux too, and I should just sell the new mm esc and motor, but I know what's gonna happen when I see that box on my doorstep.....:D Hey does anyone know if the traxxas MM is the same stuff as the flux 'blur'? Maybe I could just find a flux roller?

i just found this and was kinda shocked. check it out. when my bullet connectors come in and i unsolder my wires, i might throw the vxl motor on my e-maxx just to see how it runs. i do believe mine is a little faster than this one with my setup, but mine is also prob. twice as heavy.

Yeah that's pretty impressive! One 3500 with a fan and sink. I bit the bullet on a MMMaxx already, but I need a power source for another roller. That'll do!
