I believe I know the answer to this, but before I make the investment in another one, I want to make sure I am not jumping the gun.

If the negative leads inside the connector (both sets) are blackened (as in, no longer copper colored) on my son's E-Maxx with the stock Novak ESC AND the truck will not run, am I safe in assuming that the ESC is fried?

I'm thinking yes, but these suckers run $140.00 new, so before I toss it outright, I just want to make sure I am right. I'm pretty sure one of the packs I got it with (from some assclown) dead-shorted and fried it. I am no electric R/C guru, so just covering my bases.

Follow-up question: are there any other ESC's that are designed for the E-Maxx? I personally haven't found any, but it doesn't mean they aren't there.

Thanks!

Sounds like it's bad news for the evx. You can sent it to Traxxas and they will fix it for $25.00 plus shipping.

Ah, I figured as much, but just wanted to double check all the same. I didn't know about the repair, though. Better than $140.00!

Thanks man, I appreciate it!

Whats the word on the evx, did you contact Traxxas about repairing it?

Actually, brought it in to ship out to them. Need to call first and get the skinny because I recall reading somewhere it actually may go to Novak for service.

If you will, let us know one way or the other on how it goes. I got a broken EVX sitting here I wouldn't mind reparing for 25.00 bux. It would be cool to have a spare laying around here seeing how well I do with electrical parts :hehe:

Thanks

Folks, I received this e-mail from Traxxas today regarding the EVX I sent in:

Hello Ellery,

Our repair technicians evaluated your EVX yesterday and found that it has
failed due to getting wet. Normally this is not something that would be
covered under warranty, but we are replacing this time as a one time
courtesy at no charge. I have added your email address to the repair
information. Once the package is shipped, the tracking number will be
automatically emailed to you.
You can view all of our vehicles, exploded views, parts lists and parts
pricing at our website. www.traxxas.com, and www.buytraxxas.com. You can
download a catalog at http://www.traxxas.com/support/catalog/trx_catalog.htm
If you need further assistance, please contact our Customer Service
department at one of the following:
Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 9:00pm Central Time

Best regards,
Gary Compton,
TRAXXAS Customer Service

I know there are some folks that are not exactly Traxxas fans, but this was totally unexpected and I was absolutely floored when I opened this. Frankly, the EVX never got wet since I've owned it the E-Maxx, but that's not to say it got wet PRIOR to my buying it and just tanked on me. Regardless, Traxxas earned high, high marks in my book.

Wish those assclowns at Integy would take page from Traxxas' notebook!

Traxxas has always had great customer service, good to hear the Maxx will be up and running soon I'm sure you son will be happy.

Thanks for the update, I'll ship mine to them once I get back from our Florida trip. Also, you should forward that to the jerk at Ingety  :)
