A friend of a friend has a Horizon Prometheus he may want to sell. This plane:
He says it's never been crashed, and the only repairs he's ever made was on the landing gear, which he says is somewhat normal for these planes. He says it has a gyro in it. He also says it's a somewhat sought-after plane, but I don't know enough to know if that is correct or not.
It looks kind of cool, but it's big. I know that am not ready for it yet. I am a new flyer and currently mastering my Aeroscout. So I know I could not fly it today. But he said that in about a year, I should be able to get into it. It takes 6S batteries, which are uber-expensive (and maybe a deal-killer). He says he gets around 7 minutes out of them (a bit short for me.)
My questions about this plane:
1) What would be a fair price for it? It looks to be in excellent condition, from a picture I saw.
2) How repairable is it, since they don't make them anymore, and it has a carbon fiber skeleton?
3) Does it offer SAFE mode? (Or to be more specific, SAFE, intermediate, and expert modes, like my Aeroscout.) Bottom line is that I would want some sort of SAFE mode for this, to provide a learning curve.
4) Most important: Is there anything particularly special about this plane such that I might want it? Or is it basically just another plane? I am leaning against it, both for the battery cost and flying time. And I have other planes I am interested in. But I am just wondering if this is a special plane in any way, and something I should consider.
Thanks
