  1. Bashing
merry christmas everyone, new to the world of r/c, plan on purchasing a savage, but i think that the Baja is the ultimate machine but i would be just bashing and believe that the savage is the way to go, My question is that the baja runs on gasoline compared to nitro, gasoline is much much cheaper than nitro, is it all possible that if i bought a baja engine would i be able to modify it to fit a savage??? this thought entered my head the other day and thought i'd put it out there. Furthermore, is the gasoline a better engine than the nitros?? powerwise, maitaining, repairing, parts??? i havent bought my savage yet but soon, but seen the baja at my LHS and just fell in love with it. i know the inital payout of the cost of the baja or adding the engine to the savage would soon pay for itself in fuel.
again, just thpought i'd put it out there??

No, No and NO! it would never work. The savage is a 1/8 scale monster truck. The Baja is 1/5th scale. The motor is way to big and would never fit. And if you found some way to make it fit (which you won't) it would eat your drive train alive. Sorry, but stick with good old fashion Nitro.

The Baja 5 is a great rig. If you want to run a petrol motor then save your money up to get it. You will be much happier in the long run...

thanks for the replies, just thought id throw it out there and see what other people thought

The closest thing to a gasser savage is a FG MT with 4wd. When you see them side by side, you will understand why the answer to your question was so abrupt.

Really though, $30 for a gallon is a lot of run time. I know a gasser will go 45 minutes on one tank, but the upfront cost is much higher. If I had the place to run one, I'd probably have one. As it is, my extended savage and aftershock are already too big for the places I find to run them.

Size is a big issue, if you think not compare a 1/10th scale HPI MT with the biggest tires I can fit on it to my 1/8th scale LST:
